It happened to me again!!
Ok last week I had a problem with my car not turning on and again today it happened again. I am guessing that because it is raining again that water is touching something or not touching something that is why my car is not able to start. Again I have a 89 EF9 w/ a hydrolic 96 GSR with the battery relocated in the rear.
Last time I was driving in the rain and parked, after I came back and tried to leave my car wouldn't start or even crank. It seemed like the battery was dead. So I jumpstarted my car and when I was driving my rpm needle would jump or bounce out of control and my deck would turn on and off. After I turned the motor off, I tried to start it again but was doing the same thing and wouldn't even crank. The next morning, I checked if all the fuses were connected right and tried to start it and it started right up and seemed like everything was back to normal.
But today all of a sudden my car is doing to same thing and is not turning on. It is raining pretty hard over here and my car is outside. I tried to start it, but it won't. Any suggestions? Anything would help. Thanks.

does your dash lights go out when your radio goes out? Could be bad grounds to the battery. I would say ignitor or coil is going out, but you said the stereo goes out too so it wouldn't be that. If your grounds are really corroded on you battery or you have bad grounds off your battery, that would do it. I have had that happen to me.
Are you getting any water inside the rear of your car?? You have a short somewhere and it seems like the water is leaking somewhere it shouldnt be. Have you checked to make sure you have no leaks? check to see. that does sound like you have a battery problem
Yea it might be the battery. I don't think water gets inside. My battery isn't covered also, so i'm not sure. My battery terminals are connected and my fuses are good. I'll check if I am having a bad ground also. Do guys have any more suggestions?
i had similar problems with my ef9 but it was something stupid liek the Dizzy Rotor.
then after that the Dizzy went out and for my radio was the power wire that go's to the Radio fuse that was lose. try checkin the dumb things like that

I had similiar problems with starting and not starting, and it ended up being the ignition switch. It was so damn gummed up and dirty that it was not making connection all the time. Might be worth a look. The radio would go off for days at a time and the heater and or AC would act up too which (as I was told) led me to the switch.
Thanks for the advice. I'll check and see if any fuses are loose or if my distributer is loose also. Some one told that it might be my alternator too, what do you guys think?

Well if your alternator is not charging your battery, then yes, that is also a possibility........check your ground connections too. My ground on my starter kept popping off before and sometimes the car didnt start, I fixed that problem and havent had any issues since.
same thing would happen to me.. when i put in my amp kit.. my positive battery cable wouldn't tighten. and some times when id try to start my car my radio and all my lights would shut off.. i had to play with the cable.. till the power stood on.. or i would just turn the key to on and just pop start it.
I found out that it was the ground wire. It was very loose and didn't even seem to be connected right. I checked my alternator, fuses, battery cables, and other wires to see if anything was loose. It ended up to be the ground wire to my battery. Thanks for all the help and suggestions! All H-T members have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
