Default clutch question

this is for a h23a1 if it matters . i havnt searched yet, but i am thinking about replacing the clutch . it is basically stock, and i dont really plan to fix it up or anything . i was wondering if it is better if i should replace the current clutch with a new stock oem clutch or get an aftermarket clutch that is close or comparable to oem ? any recommendations would be nice ? i would like to pair it with a 8 lb. flywheel as well, thanks .

Well first, find what are your plans for the car, if you plan on keeping the car mostly stock or mildly fixing it up(I/H/E) then ya, keep the stock clutch, for the same price as a upgraded clutch, you can buy an OEM one and find a shop that will warrenty it. But if you plan on dramaticaly increasing the horsepower, first figure out how much and go from there. As for the aftermarket flywheel, there is a issue on not being able to read the timing marks on some. You should be able to find out a little more with some searching.

is there any difference between a exedy oem and the honda oem clutch ? or is it both the same ? because i believe exedy makes oem clutches for many different car manufacturers .

if u have the money go ahead and buy a good 6 puck, the engagment isnt to harsh, stock pedal pressure, you dont notice much of a differance in driveability, however it will prolly never slip on a stock motor or mildly built motor, as long as u know how to drive it. I wouldnt do the 8lb flywheel, go wtih 12lb, 8lb you lose tq and after all it is a honda and you want all the tq you can get. As far as timing marks, my flywheel did not have one, i just matched it up with my stock flywheel and made my own mark.

get an exceedy oem replacement, and find a 10-14lbs flywheel. u said u dont have much done right? no point and having clutch chatter. and driveability problems are an issue the lighter ur clutch is.
