Default argh, car won't start now.

yesterday my car (2000 prelude sh + jrsc) stalled and would NOT start again. i have checked everything obvious, to no avail. i had to ****** rent a car.

the wires and plugs are fine. the cap and rotor look brand new. there is fuel pressure. the engine cranks but doesn't catch. i took the EMS out of the timing circuit. no change. took it out of the MAP circuit. no change. took the VAFC out of the map circuit. no change. i don't see how errant TPS or IAT signals could prevent the car from starting, so i didn't take those out.

now i need to get it towed somewhere, it will be impossible to put it in my garage (no way a tow truck could get it in there), the honda dealer looked at it thursday and basically gave up (back when it just stalled, but started again) and the shop that did the supercharger install is 30 miles away.

this sucks! anyone have any suggestions?

Is your car getting any spark at all? Check one of the wires by unplugging one from the distributor and holding it close. If you see a blue spark, then the distributor is ok. Are you getting any fuel? Could be a number of things that could have gone wrong. Is your ECU throwing a code at all? Give more details and we can help out.

i pulled one of the plugs and cranked it. there is a bright blue flash every 1/2 second or so. it's slower than i would have expected, but quite consistent.

the fuel pump comes on and the system pressurizes as usual, so if i'm not getting fuel it could only be because the injectors aren't firing. i went through the checks in the helms for the main pgm-fi relay, and it and the ecu checked out.

i'm not getting any ecu codes currently. over the last week the car had been dying at idle (see other post) and misfiring in cylinder 4.

ii'll see if i can test to see that the ecu is firing the injectors with the voltmeter. then i'll check out the cyp and tdc sensors (since both the vafc and ems were connected to this circuit i think it's a strong possibility this is where the screwup lies.) after that i'll try and swap in another 5th gen prelude ecu.

after that i give up, sell it all, and go join the e46 m3 forum at bimmer.org
