Help with ignition switch swap
My ignition just went out and I have one from a 93 civic ex automatic I could use. The problem is my car is a manual. Is there any diffferences and do I have these shear off bolts or it just normal ones?
I cant find the part # so I cant check if theyre the same but instinct tells me they should be.
All you need to do is remove the upper steering column covers and the switch will be on the left side of the wheel. 2 or 3 small phillips screws and the switch comes off, *minus a few connectors).
You're just replacing the electrical portion correct?

I am not sure exactly what to change. The problem is after the car is started, if I release the key it will shut off, and if I hold the key forward it stays on. I am assuming that is something to do with the actual switch? I can take whatever I need as far as ignition goes from the parts car so I am just wondering what I will need. I heard the automatic has some kind of ring around it though to prevent you from taking the key out when it's not in park? Just wondering what im getting myself into for tomorrow

Incase anyone looks this up. If you are having the same problems as I had all you have to do is pop off that white cap and clean the terminals with some sandpaper. Mine had oxidation on them, but nothing that seemed like an electrical problem. It seemed like more of a weather and age problem. The one terminal that keeps the car on after you bump the starter was so corroded that it was losing the connection, so now that it's clean it runs perfect again
hey i'm from jersey too.
relax, i had this problem with my hatch, you have to remove the steering column panels. you'll see on the left side a white round plug with a harness attached to it which leads to a brown plug underneath the dash. you have to really get under t here to find it but it's not that hard. you're lucky you
found just the electrical part of it since it's only sold together with the key cylinder 200 bucks only from honda. live and learn

Dirtay Jersay fo life!....if you look above your post you will see what I actually did. You don't need to buy a new one it was just corroded and the terminals needed to be cleaned.
