Anyone w/Stock Valvesprings in 300+hp

Default Anyone w/Stock Valvesprings in 300+hp

Like the title says...
Im deciding on upgrading my stock B18C1 valvesprings and retainers but....
Would you guys say Stock valvetrain its safe for Boost on 11-15lbs @ 300-400hp???
Seems to be fine right now at 11lbs @330hp.
Inputs?

I don't see why not, I'd think increasingly high rpm would lead to valvetrain failure before the power would be an issue. FWIW, a number of locals have seen over 400whp with 100% stock heads

I just finished tuning a 290whp totally stock LS engine. Seemed to work ok.

i rev my **** out to 9K with ITR valvetrain. i might invest in some blox products soon. possible do a test with blox B's on a boosted setup

I got 317hp, with a completely stock GSR head on an LS block. Its working fine, Im revving to 8K btw

careful, heavy abuse in that rpm range will eventually cause the retainers to fail.

Sounds like a 50/50 Factor.
But most likely i will upgrade my springs & retainers just for insurace.

Lol. Can someone enlighten me, why the retainers will fail out of all things? Ive seen 500whp on stock GSR valvetrain. 8500rpm ish

its not the power, its the rpm. stock retainers will fail if consistently revved past 9k.

so stock retainers can withstand reving up to 9k rpm's?...

i plan on puttin GSR cams in my b16 head for my LS/Vtec setup, should i replace my valvetrain...

we're splitting hairs here. all im saying is that after some long term high R abuse (9200 rev limiter) on a previous setup the ITR retainers failed and I lost everything except the manifolds and cams.
