Default i think my clutch is dead

this morning i get into my car and when i try to put it in gear its very tough, and when changing from gear to gear i have to realy pull on it to get it out and jam it into the next gear. when i step on the cluch it like sticks to the floor and when let go of it, after a while it bounces back. i think that my clutch is completely gone, any idea on how much will it cost to get a new one and get it changed?

its not the clutch, the clutch will never die instantly, it's gradual. Its either the slave or master clutch cylinder that died on you.

Look underneath your dash and see if there is fluid leaking into the car behind the clutch pedal. If it is your clutch master cylinder is dead.

Your failure indicates that the clutch is not releasing properly.

As indicated by other contributors, the first (and least costly) sub-system which you should check; the clutch control system.
I would first suggest refilling the clutch master cylinder reservoir, bleeding the system and determine if your clutch pedal again becomes effective.
The second item you would suspect, if the clutch control system checks out, would be the clutch itself. The large circular spring within the pressure plate can warp over time, fail and not allow full release.
The last scenario is the most expensive, a Rear Main Seal failure; whereas engine oil leaks past the seal and is flung out into the clutch bell housing, drips down and contaminates the clutch driven plate.

It would appear you've got some things to check

If users were searching like they should, these answers would not need repeating. If P wants to be the considerate willing and patient participant that he has proved to be, answering redundant questions over again for those who lack the initiative or knowledge, then I believe he's a great benefit to this forum. It's not something I would do, being a young rowdy hellion, but it's a benefit to everyone when P does what he does best.

Not preaching directly to you Schmitey, just putting in my two cents of appreciation.

Naw man I feel the same! I've said it many times and I'll say it again. We need a competency test for all new members. We make them "read" through all the requirements and rules but how bout making them search for a link to activate their accounts?!? It would be VERY easy to do.

And ya P you are the man...and a hell of a patient guy

LOL. What makes it particularly ironic; I type worth ****. That and trying to not only answer what, but also give a reason why REALLY drags it out.
Honest to GOD, I've actually started a response, and actually had someone finish and post theirs b4 I finished. really pitiful - isn't it?

Trudging on:

LMAO! I'd love to see that in action!

And P, I've been right there with you on the drawn out post. By the time I've posted my reply and refresh, there's 3 other posts ahead of mine.

::Cheers::
