civic cx radiator fan not turning on.. how to make it work?
i dont know.. i just finished warming my car up and driving my gf to work.. come home park it in the garage and no fan..
the engine bay is hot.. the valve cover is hot.. and something smells kinda dry.. it seems like the coolant is not being used in anyway because its still full.. after a month..
how do i check if the fan or whatever is broken?
also is there a relay?
and is there a way to make it turn on on command? like a switch?

There is a thermo switch on the thermostat housing for the fan. There is also a relay. Coolant should never be "used" in the fashion that it gets consumed. The coolant resivour should ideally maintain the same level in the overflow tank. The fan most likely will not come on considering how cold it has been. When the car is in motion, you are moving a good amount of air across the radiator. The fan never came on much during the winter with my old B setup, and I don't think I have ever seen it on this season so far with the Z6.
There is no switch you can hit to turn the fan on. Why would there be? You can unplug the connector on the fan shroud and jump it directly to 12v (battery) if you are concerned if it works or not. If its good, it will come on.

You could do this, but is not the right way to solve the problem. Running the fan too long COULD also get your coolant temps low enough to trigger the ECU to add additional fuel such as is needed durring warm up and lead to poor mileage.

oh.. aha thanks
i guess ill just leave it for now.. im still stuck with a d15b7 :-\ too broke to go sohc vtec.. i was just thinking because this one other car i had .. the fan would turn on once i turn the key once ..
it was a b20/b16a2 head and it seemed the dual fans cooled the block somehow

my ecu is setup to run in open loop all the time because i dont have a o2. no cat also. im used to crappy mileage. but the switch has a bright *** led and id in a very visable spot so i pay attention to how long it is on.
