I've been asked to do a headgasket change on someones car and I am unsure how much to charge.
Its for a 95 Integra LS (which is in a 92-95 Civic and it has a turbo kit on it)
Here is what he wants done:
Change Timing belt
Change Water pump
Change Headgasket
Now this is what I'll have to do:
Pull head off and intake and exhaust manifolds bring head to get resurfaced.
Change water pump (while heads out of course)
Replace Tensioner Pulley
Replace Intake and exhaust gaskets.
Put the head on torque head bolts.
Torque cam caps
Adjust and torque Valve lash
Set timing belt correctly.
oil change, coolant flush.
Make sure everything is nice and cosher.
All done.
I may have left a couple of things out but none-the-less I know what I am doing.
How much to Charge?

Now is that per shop times? or is that how many hours you do on it?
I am not trying to rip the guy off. I just want to be honest and me and him are h-t buddies. I've helped him out and he has helped me out in the past when we've had car troubles.

Don't Drink, Don't smoke, and Don't like to eat out.

thanks for the input though.
Also, I'd be doing all the work by myself.

Yup all Oem parts.
i do have a list of parts that will be replaced. sorry didn't list it.
I understand just a timin belt. hell i'd charge around 150 for that since I know the guy but doing a headgasket is quite a bit more work.
anyone else?
Thanks again.

Yeah, that usually how you charge your buddies.

$150-200 for just the timing belt, so id say around $250-$300. and if he is your buddy and want to give him a deal. $225-$250.
a dealer could esily get 500 so i dnno its up to you if hyes your friend id say say at least 250 and if not then at least 350
wow youd charge someone 350 for a timing belt??? my god ever hear what goes around comes around??? Karma will bite you in your *** soon enough
well for a shop to do that would cost 150 labor for fiming belt and water pump, then like another 3-400 for head gasket for labor. depends how good of friends you are. like me no matter who i help i always work for free. but i do get mad when they dont even offer me anything to eat or drink

Easily $500+ just for labor. To do it properly you are going to have to pull out the block to overbore the cylinder. You are looking at $800+ just in labor with that. I don't bother replacing rings unless it's going to be a race motor with aftermarket pistons. It's usually cheaper/easier to just buy another block (that and the bearings will have less miles etc however you will likley have to replace those as well.

There was a dealer special going on here. They said like $350 for replacement of the Timing Belt, Water Pump, and Tensioner. That was labor and parts at a Dealer.
BTW I just did a headswap on a SVT Focus and for labor I charged $300.

a guy did my timing belt alone for 150 or so with my buying the timing belt.
