Default Fuel Cut/Ignition Cut + CEL flash? Hondata + P28...

Ok so this is the 4th or 5th time this has happened and i really want to know what causes it.

I am running hondata s200b on a p28 with 450CC dsm injectors. This is what happened (today):

Start car, let warm up, get into boost in 2nd gear, between 4-5k rpms the ignition and fuel cut out (lose all power), and the CEL flashes for a split second and goes away... car doesnt shut off or anything tho? SO there is no way to check what the CEL is... it only seems to happen within the first 10min or so of starting the car...after that is wont happen?

Any ideas? EMS related?

Thanks!

does the hondata box have the 3-step? could be an eager foot on the clutch pedal triggering WOT shift, when you aren't there. I've had that happen to a few people i've tuned. Could also be boost cut.

yes it has 3step but i never hooked up the set button or clutch switch- think thats whats causing it- yea it happens at WOT

Im only running 8.7psi, and im not sure if my tuner enabled boost cut...

without having the wire connected to the hondata box, then it wouldn't be WOT shift, i bet boost cut. is it only in 2nd? has it just started since it has gotten colder? what boost controller?

no boost controller, running off the gate springs (8.7psi). It usually happens in first or second, the car is full warm but the oil is still cold-ish.

Doesnt seem to happen after the car has been running a while.

my tuner said it sounds like boost cut, he has to get his laptop then hes gonna let me know what mines set at. If my cut is 10psi that makes sense... I have a drag manifold and it creeps up to 10ish psi

you set max boost allowed and if the map sensor reads more boost than that amount, it acts like a rev limitor and stops until boost pressure is under that sensor.

it cuts fuel, spark, or both, depends on the EMS you use. Its feels just like a revlimiter cept after it cuts it doesnt rev and bounce it cuts and then rpms fall until u let off the throttle completely

bump

I am runing a stock map sensor, i think boost creeps to 10psi sometimes, could 10psi + stock map be my issue?

probably so. i think hondata sets up the boost cut at 11 psi. since it is ubnable to see any boost from your stock map sensor past that.

thanks for the explanation.

is this safe for the car. cutting fuel on a FI application does not sound safe, but i guess when cutting fuel and spark together i would be ok

its not the safest, but its safer than letting the boost keep building past the tuned psi.

hondata only cuts fuel (atleast s200 does) its not the best, but with no fuel, nothing is going to ignite, as seen by the car falling on its face when it happens. as long as you don't live on it, no biggy. i've used the 2-step without problems for a long time.

sounds like that would make a supper lean condition.

i think on my audi when i go over my boost setting it pulls timing to no end. again making the car fall on it's face. sounds safter to me.

stock honda's aren't boosted and therefore fuel cut doesn't really affect them. since hondata/crome/uber/etc/etc only modify the stock honda code, it has to follow the same limits. s300 offers ignition cut, but since the honda ecu only has 1 ignition output then it could cut spark to up to 3 plugs before it can be re-synched.

fuel cut isn't the best, BUTTTT it works fine for many people, its lean, but if you drive your car and ever let off the gas and TPS goes to 0%, then your injectors turn off for a split second, so kind of a same situation.

Does the car build a little more boost when its cold outside? I've had this happen a few times also, and like Turbotime, its happened within the first 15 min of driving the car and it was actually a cooler day then it had been in a while.
