Default Installed New Head ( Now Problems ) Help ! Honda Techs

I Installed a new head in my hatch with a gsr .. I took the stock head off and put a ported one with upgraded valve springs / retainers , and valves . I also changed the intake manifold to a skunk 2 and the throttlebody with a type r ....

It ran a lil slugish compared to my stock head when i first took it for a spin ..... Whenever the car would come to a stop it would turn off , not being able to idle unless i helped it by pumping the gas ....

The next day I timed the car and checked to make sure the wires were in order and getting proper fire... Everything checked out so i tested the tps and everything looked fine ..... The ecu wasnt throwing any codes so i check for vacume leaks and gauged the top of the skunk and it red 10 merc. at idle .??? Is this 2 low ? I didnt know i checked all the hoses and they seemed to be working fine ....

I next procedded to pull the spark plugs and do a compression test ..
all the cylinders read around 175-190 except cylinder 2 which read 50
The same cylinders spark plug had a lil bit of oil on it .....

What do you guys think the problem is ??? the valves need adjustemnt to get compression ????? the valves are bent ?????? head gasket isnt properly put on ???

PLease Help thanks

Sounds like bent valves to me. That could be the reason the car wouldnt idle unless you gave it some throttle. Drop a teaspoon of oil in the low reading cylinder and re-do the test. If the number just up drastically, over 20psi, its not the valves.

Where are you located?

Ill try out the teaspoon , and see what the results are .... I was hoping it was a valve adjustment problem , but now im leaning towards bent valves .... damn

thanks for the help

Ill have to do a leakdown test

check your valve lash. it might be too tight thats why it cant idle

would that make the compression 50 off simply the valve lash ?

Wet compression test and then do a leakdown test. A healthy engine should be pulling around 18" mercury @ idle.

One of my engine builders came over my house and did a valve adjustment to my new head and afterwards did a compression test .. All 4 came out with good compression. I guess the problem was in the valve adjustments . Now the car idles , before it didnt at all .... I guess after I do a complete valve adjustment tomorrow ill know if teh idle improves.
