Rerouting clutch hard lines........What size?

Rerouting clutch hard lines........What size?
I'm doing a wire tuck on my 94 EG and am going to eliminate the cluth hardlines from the firewall to the slave cylinder. Would 1/8 or 1/4 inch steel braided line work? Would -4an fittings work with the existing fittings on the lines and slave cylinder? Any help would be appreciated.
