Car won't start when left out in the cold for two+ hours
Hi everyone,
Have had this problem for a while. I have a 90 EF Std. The car starts right away when I leave it in the garage but won't start after leaving it outside for 2+ hours. I replaced the main relay two months ago so I know it's not the main relay. Replaced the battery about a year ago too. Any ideas guys? I tried searching but it seems like everyone's pointing to the main relay.

are you sure that even if you leave it in the garage for over 2 hours it will start right awaw.....are you throwing any codes is it throwing a code 6
I had a wierd problem like that as well. I would park at my friends house under some power wires and everytime I would go back out to start my car it would not start. I found out that it was blowing a fuse so I replaced it. Tryed to start it againd and it blew it right away. I tryed pushing it down his driveway and replace the fuse and tryed to start it and it started no problem. But everytime I park under the wires it would pop my fuse. I dont think this has anything to do with your issues but keep it mind that **** like this can happen. I was told the current from the power wires kept poping my fuses. it was wierd. Good Luck
Thanks for the replies. I don't know if it's throwing a code 6. It starts fine in the garage (or any other garage) no matter how long I have left it there (5 days -20C outside). But once I leave it outside, even with relatively mild temperature (~-10C), it wont start after 2+ hours. Ive checked all the fuses. Right now it's sitting at the local Piston Ring Repair Shop and they're experiencing the same thing. So far they have no clue what's going on. Man, don't want to give up now, especially after just replacing the axles, bushings, control arms, wishield washer motor etc. the last few weeks.

Piston ring just phoned and just said that it was the "safety sensor on the clutch". Hope that's really it though. Anyway thanks to everyone who replied.
