Default Another CRX Project...

Welll, the work has begun on my new CRX. My Dad and I are working on it, and the goal is to be done by the end of Christmas break, at least. D16 SOHC VTEC swap, Suspension, and Paint. Not to include whatever else I get for Christmas.. (Hopefully that Alarm system..And that CD player.) Anyway, we pulled the old 190k mile D15 out of it, and now it's sitting on a piece of cardboard in my garage.. (Which is entirely too small for this, we're playing a bit of a slide puzzle game with everything. 2 D16's and a D15, plus a Challenger frame taking up half of the garage. Anyway, we got the motor out, and now we're going to degrease everything, and make some poly inserts for the motor mounts. I have to say, mad props to my Dad for working his *** off. Definitely couldn't do all of this myself, and work at the same time. Or even if I didn't work, I couldn't do all of this, simply because I don't know how. lol. Anyway, I'm learning as we go, and hopefully I can do all this on my own later on down the line. The paint, whenever we do it, is going to be CW, and I'm going to keep all of the black trim, just repaint it. I also plan on painting the Valve Cover white, so I think that'll look nice. Anyone else have any input?

Also, I'm looking for a decent sounding cheap exhaust kit or exhaust ideas, so let me know. I've been searching and come up with some stuff, but more info can't hurt.

RS*R Ex-Mag would be nice though. Very nice. There's a guy that comes out every once in a while on Saturday nights running one. Sounds real nice.

Yep, dad's a police officer.. and I have no idea what a "raction bar" is. Seriously. Not being sarcastic in any way.

Traction bar? No. Don't have one.

Looks like you already have the exhaust manifold for a turbo setup.

Haha well he's not really a street/city cop, so he doesn't hate them I guess. He says their stupid, but what can ya do? I admit, I used to think body kits and big *** aluminum spoilers were the ****, but I grew out of it looking at all of these sweet OEM/JDM rides. Hondas are growing on my dad. He's actually enjoying it.

Another update.. with some good news, and some bad news.

First up, the good news.

My EJ, tows the CRX nicely.

2nd bit of good news..

The engine dropped in rather nicely.

Now for the bad news...

We decided to tow the car to the car wash about 5 minutes from my house to clean up the engine bay before we dropped in the motor.. The EJ1 became a towtruck, a rather nice one at that. Everything was going fine, and on the way back, a mustang almost pulls out into us, we slam on the brakes in both cars, and he stops before he takes us BOTH out. Whew. Barely survived that one.. So we're about a block away from my house when disaster strikes.. You see, we didn't really secure the hood very well.. Ok maybe at all.. A mistake on both of our parts. We're driving, and within 2 seconds, my windshield is covered with white CRX hood. Bent the hell out of the hood, broke the windshield. No bueno.

New hood cost.. probably about $65 bucks. Primered. Certifit.
New windshield.. who knows.
