Default Civic VX Exhaust Options

I recently purchased a Civic VX that has a Apexi N1 muffer welded to the original VX system. The job was done very poor as you can hear the whole back 1/2 of the weld rattle the car. Can someone please tell me what options I can have to replace this system with to bring back to stock? Can I use a Si system or will that not bolt upto the 1.5 VTEC motor?

This car is far from performance so I would like something close to bringing this back to OEM as possible but don't mind having the nice looking Si tip. If anyone knows or has a positive suggestion, please let me know.

Where exactly is it welded on to? Is the mid-pipe in one peice still or is the N1 welded directly to that? If it is only welded to the axle-back portion then you should be able to unbolt from there and bolt an OEM axle-back up to the mid-pipe.

The guy welded the N1 can and some pipe to I guess what you call the "B" pipe sections right around the back seat. It's by the rear axle so I was looking to try and unbolt this at the cat (if the VX has a cat in the middle of the exhaust) and then re-attach a new Si system and or try to find a VX cat back...

Does that make sense? Can I use a 92-95 Si cat back bolting upto a VX cat?

All I see is 3" and I am not looking to spend $300 performance exhaust for a beyond slow Civic VX

If you have a specific system in mind that is not too expensive, please link it here.

you can use an exhaust from an Si hb, but you will prolly want to use the exhaust manifold and cat from the Si hb as well to not have any gaps in the exhaust system.

if you use just the Si hb cat-back exhaust.....w/ a stock vx system, i believe there will be a gap.
The VX "cat-back" exhaust is longer and the cat is built into the exhaust manifold up front near the engine.

i agree 100% on this one. you definitely want to get the whole Si hb exhaust due to the VX's cat location. not to mention you'd probably be able to sell the VX manifold because people are always looking to pick those up for junkyard turbo kits

Do you guys know where I would be able to find a Si full exhaust system?

I take it I need everything except the headers from an Si, right? Or do I need the headers too? I would not think they would fit.

If anyone knows - please let me know.

if you want to go si style, you need everything from the header to the tip. if not, you will need a patch pipe from the end of the cat/ header assembly to where the exhaust starts. i used a si header, bought a cat for an si, then used an si/dx exhaust. changing the header to an aftermarket one on a vx makes a big difference.
