Expert racers: Hawk HPS and HP pads
I would think they would be ok, although I never used them. I have another set of front rotors with hawk blues that go on the type r whenever it sees the track. Good luck.
I used Hawk HP+ for few Driving School last season and they did a good job......no sign of overheat or major brake fade.
I believe HP Plus are good enough to handle driving school or track day ( but not competition )

Depends on the car, how your drive (level of experience, etc.), and which track you are going to.
If you are a novice at a track like Homestead, Gingerman, or VIR...the HP Plus should do just fine. Even on a light-braking circuit, an intermediate driver should be able to use the HP Plus with good results.
Advanced drivers or those going to a brake-intensive track should consider more aggressive compounds such as the Carbotech Panther Plus or Panther XP, depending on how the car is setup (tires, suspension, etc.).
HPS...definitely not...it is a street pad, and should not be used on the track. It should work well in most cases for auto-x, however.

Me and my friends all use HP+ everyday street and tracks, they are cheap and good, one of my friends tried "blue" and finished the rotors less than 2 months for just street driving.
Good replies, thanks guys!
I'm in a budget and also I'm a beginner on the Sebring track so, I might go with the Hawk HP plus. ($$ you know)

When they are up to race temps (hence the term race pad), they are actually not any harsher than other compounds.

HPS? on an autocross, you may survive. I use HP+ (higher temp than HPS) on a road course and I smoked them after 3 laps. Hawk Blue is what you need if you are hardcore.
Dang, a good topic... just what I also was wondering about...
If I do a beginner (follow the leader) course at Road Atlanta, can I get away with HPS? I plan on doing about 3 events this year... probably all of them in novice, beginner class. Money is kinda tight right now and if I can do without extra set of rotors, that would be great. (The advice from the competition forum was something equivalent to Hawk Blues + extra rotors... but like I said, money is tight, especially with the fee for the event). Thanks.

I never been to Road Atlanta.....not sure how heavy is the braking zone.....but if you're novice and the track event is a school and not racing I think you should be fine with HP+ ( also with flesh brake fuild)
I used HP+ for my driving school @ Lime Rock, Summit Point......and they're just fine

Brake pads don't warp rotors.
Improperly torque lug nuts, parking a car while the brakes are still very hot, and uneven cooling of the brake system will promote rotor warpage. But brake pad selection, in and of itself, is NOT a cause of warped rotors.

HP+s were good to me, 1.5 driving school events and 1500 miles of street driving before they expired. I am by no means an expert driver though.
