Default ITR Expo: Racing newbies welcome?

The way my timeline looks for purchasing an ITR (Guys, I'm ******* eating ramen noodles 3 times a day to save money for my down payment, I'm SO hyped.)... it looks like it will be pretty close to the expo, and the track is only aprx 3-4 hours away from me, so it's kind of silly to NOT go.

Anyway, I've never had any race experience, besides one or two silly drag races back in highschool in my mom's hyundai. *rolls eyes* Would I be welcome at the expo and allowed to give racing a try, or do you need some kind of certification to get on the track? I've always considered myself a very good driver, so I trust my abilities as far as adapting to track driving is concerned... Is this frowned upon?

If I can't race, I'll probably just come to hang out

Newbies are ALWAYS welcomed on the track. The more the merrier and we rather have people learning car control and the limits of their car on the track instead of the street.

Have fun and F anyone who rags on you for being a newbie. We were all newbies at one time.

Wanting to get your R on the track for the first time

Just let everyone know that you're a newbie and I'm sure they'll put you in a run group with fellow beginners. Also people will give you more room for error because you're a newbie.

HAHA, I have been doing the same thing for the 3 months, along with 20 cent mac and cheese. I am soooo sick of it. Anything to save money for my car payment and the expo fee. I cant wait for summer where I can have some money in my pocket.

Dont worry about anything, its the most fun you can have with your clothes on in your car

The ITR expo, like most open track events is not "racing". It is a "drivers Ed" or a lapping day. The is no timing involved. You will definetly want to use the "drivers ed" name if you ever need to deal with your insurance company.

And yes Newbies are welcome, we all had to started driving on the track at one time or another. The guys from CGI put on a great, organized track day and should have instructors ready to ride with you. Most track event hold 4 sessions for different levels of experiance from beginer to advanced.

Please go. It's much safer and cheaper to do it on a track than on the highway.

And like someone said above, it's not a race .... it's "Driver's Ed" hehe!

It will be nice to put some names with some faces. Ed

Tell her, it's to improve your safety skills. It worked for me, it'll work for you.
