Default REally NEEd uR HELP-- Map sensor/Vacuum Problem

I just reinstalled the my h22 in my lude 93, and for some reason when hooking up the vacuum lines the car makes a hi pitched whine.. , if i unhook the map sensor line, the whine seems to go away, but w/ it hooked up its almost unbearable?...
does anybody kno what could cause this?

when i fired up the car i thought it was the car alarm right above the intake mani... but when i mess w/ the lines the hi pitch shrillin noise goes away?.. especially when i remove the line for the map sensor.. but even when the map sensor is not hooked up and all the lines/vacuum ports plugged the noise is "slightly" audible while driving @ low rpms only.

the car was originally set up w/ a p28(chipped), altho the runners are still in there.. could those possible be contributing to the noise?

no IABS will not make sounds like you are hearing....im not sure what to say other than to make sure all your lines are snug on there, and that your tb and im gaskets should be checked to make sure theyre not leaking....that could make a whine also, but i really think its a bad line...

i was thinking the same thing.. i pulled the motor from this car and had it in my hatch for a while.. i just swapped over the intake mani... to a skunk one.. then i put it back in the lude for a daily driver, and used all the lines that were originally in the lude.. and boom i get the noise.. but what i really really dont understand is why the map sensor being connected would make it worse?

possibly bc the map sensor or its vac line has a leak in it, so under vacuum, aka when its hooked up, air rushes in, and whistles....

bump it up.. changed some things.. ie small leaks found in vacuum lines.. and the whine still exist my bro took it to a mechanic really quick..and they check the intake mani w/a leak tester and they said nope.. its all good.. the noise that persists comes from lower in/on the engine.... im 90% sure there's nothing "vacuum" related down there.. but maybe im wrong..anybody have a clue?

hey bro sounds like its a vacuum hose from the fuel regulator to the firewall.... the map sensor goes to the fuel regulator to the firewall where it hooks up there cant really tell u exactly with out a pic

Get a can of starter fluid and start the motor up when it's COLD.

Spray around all of the vaccuum lines and the intake manifold.

Listen for a different sound or a drop in the rpm's when you're spraying it.

Also make sure the PCV valve is all the way in the valve cover.

thanks fella's.. but turns out its stranger than that, the mechanic found the noise was moreso internal.. like coming from the engine itself.. , which actually explains alot.. since initially when i put the same motor in my hatch.. w/ my skunk 2 manifold it was making a hissing noise constantly that i couldnt find either.. just in case when i put it back in the lude i put the stock intake mani back on and made triple sure everything was buttoned up.. and of course still get some kinda hissing noise.. that basically seems like it gets louder n louder
