Default RHD conversion firewall comparison (searched)

hey guys i am picking up a RHD front clip for cheap and i have a couple questions that i really need to find answers too. i searched all over the place, and all the forums here already. First up i have a hatchback and the clip i am getting is from a EF8 CRX i know most of the parts interchange but the 2 things i am worried about are; if the firewalls between the hatch and rex are the same so i can just weld it in and if I am using the rhd crx dash do i need jdm crx door pannels or even usdm crx door pannels??? If the firewalls are not the same is there anyone out there that just modified the stock firewall and used the rest of the rhd parts?? i would prefer to do it this way so i dont have to deal with all the welding and pulling my new windshield out. all i really have to worry about is the steering coulum and master cyl/pedals. if i mock it all up i should be able to cut the holes no prob. looks like the ac line hole is about in the right spot. i was thinking of just making a sheet metal cover for the firewall when i am done to hide the welds on the holes and to smooth out the firewall when i am done. this is not gonna be a ghetto hack, i know how to fab and i think this may work a little better for me. U would think honda would have it setup so the car would be able to be setup rhd or lhd without swapping firewalls. anyway i will probly end up using a few parts of the firewall and weld em in but i would really like to talk to someone that just modded the usdm one to work. Thank u all for reading and i really appreciate any help on this.

I have an EF8 front clip(empty). I might be able to take some pics soon to help you out. The clip is at my buds house in his garage. From what I know USDM and JDM firewalls are not symetrical(meaning you can't bolt the brake booster from one side to another and the holes for other hardware just aren't there). I could be wrong though.

cool i will keep a log of the project. And duh i realized alot of the hardware and holes are not there on the other side, like i said i have to probly just weld in a couple parts not the whole firewall, i planned on sheet metaling the whole firewall to smooth it and hide all plus i can powdercoat it then put it on. I see stupid RHD questions all the time and tons of threads with no info. we need to document what its like doing it without welding in the whole firewall. i should be getting started on this just after the 1st of the year, i have to get a b18 back in the teg so i have something to drive while doing this. thanks all

I know this is really old, but I will answer the questions so the next person won't have to make a nother thread.

-the crx and civic dashes are easily interchangeable. You can use your normal door panels.

- the rhd crx and civic firewalls are the same, yes.

-you can cut your firewall out just under the vin and keep your windshield in place. That's what I did and I didn't have to cut my stock firewall vin out.

-the rhd sterring column bracket can be drilled out and welded to your car as long as you weld it into the correct position.

I did a write up on my rhd conversion which is now in the EF FAQ. You can check it out.
