Need help ASAP: tech related - Code 61 Primary Oxygen Sensor
My car threw a code 61 today. Couple questions, how will this affect my car if I leave it for a little while? 2) Where is the primary sensor located? I'm running a DC sports header, stock cat, I figure it's at the end of header right before the cat, but I've yet to encounter this problem. Any input on this problem would be very appreciated. Please be very descriptive as I'm not too familiar w/ this code. Thanks

Reset, see if it comes back.
1. It'll run rich.
2. It's at the end of the header by the collector as you believed.

How did I know someone would say this, this happened on my "other" ITR, now it's R related.

I've been posting in this forum for 3 years and it's the same part. Bbasso, if you had to sell your car due to financial reasons and bought a gsr would you just altogether stop posting in this forum?? We all know there is a tendency to be quite a bit of misleading information in some of the other forums (including the integra forum). Sorry my car isn't yellow anymore, but it's the same part and the same answer, I'd just get it 10x faster in the R forum.

exactly. I have to admit, this isn't R related but it's R-Forum member related. It's not like a noob that signed in to post in here about a GS-R or anything, and he's an ex-ITR owner so who cares.

I just want someone to post a pic of how the wires go into the 02 harness. I had abit of an "issue" awhile back installing header and i dont think I put them back in the correct order (whoops). Had code 61 since.
At any rate, Ive run the car like this for like 2 months, did 3-4 autoxes..eats gas but otherwise runs decent I guess.

No prob. RTW,I def. knew you were just joking around, but bbasso seemed to chime in as if you were serious, which is extremely lame.
Back on topic guys, any more info on this code?

What year is your gsr? If it is an obd2 vehicle with 2 o2 sensors, you might want to switch them temporarily to have it running better.
It's a 99' and I just recently went to the car wash and got a full undercarriage wash, do you think this could possibly play a part in the bad o2 sensor? The CEL lit up 2 days after the wash.
In regards to Dave ROR's post, would resetting the ecu help? and if so, why?

If it was an intermittent failure, the problem might have just gone away. I'd reset the ECU, and give it another week to figure out if it REALLY wants to throw the code.

Mines been having on/off primary O2 sensor problems for a little while. The car will hesitate for like 5 minutes, and then the problem will go away. I've been told you can take a torch to the O2 sensor and it might fix it, otherwise, you can get a "new" one.

I hear new ones are like 250 bucks, any other companies make these and where can I get my hands on one??

When I said "new" I meant just check the classifieds, you always see them. If all you see for sale is the secondary O2 sensor, you can get that too. Since the primary and secondary harnesses are different, you'll just need to cut the harness off of your old primary O2 and splice the wires to the new sensor.

bosch, autozone, $80.
or try a junkyard... there are some good low-mileage ones there...

I don't even see 61 listed as a valid code...what am I missing?
I looked this up in my Integra manual, and online with Alldata.
The lowest code appears to be 100...

I dunno why it's not listed, but I just checked the honda-tech and team-integra ecu code stickies and 61 is primary o2 sensor for both

Different codes, you need to look up MIL codes not DTC.

Ahh, so the ECU codes are not the same as the DTC P codes?
Maybe what I'm asking is, what does an OBD2 scan tool report the error as?
(Autozone will pull it for free...)
Edit: Thanks Dave! The flowchart I found says that if MIL is on there can be an additional DTC, but not necessarily.

We love you.

In regards to the CEL, I reset the ECU and the car is running 100x better than it was. I felt like I was driving a power wheels not a gsr. Thanks for all the help, crossing my fingers that this was just a one time ordeal and it won't come back on

Just a lame sense of humor.
But to answer your question, Yes I would switch forums if I had another car that was not an ITR.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Keep telling yourself that buddy maybe it'll come true, the ITR and GSR share more parts in common than any other models, plus this is a community that I've been a part of for 3 years. I think you're outnumbered in regards to your opinion. Why don't you tell Dave-ROR to quit posting in the R forum, he doesn't own one either.
