Default rear brake piston not compressing all the way

the e-brake isn't on, i turn the adjuster in so far it starts turning back 1/10th ish turn when i stop and don't tough it. i need that extra 1/8"ish to get the damn thing over the rotor. what should I do?

i think i'm going to pull off the ebrake cable and see if that is messing it up at all.. it might be jammed since the car hasn't driven in 2 years. i used it a few times but i'm thinking when i let off the e-brake it doesn't let off all the way. any ideas if that doesn't work?

thanks

hard to tell from your post, but you do know that the rear brake caliper piston screws in. the e brake everytime you pull it takes up some slack by unscrewing the piston.. you need to screw it in.

The easiest way is to use this

But prelittlelude is right you have to turn the piston back into the caliper. It won't press in.

yeah, what exactly is that? yes I know it turns in. I turn it so i have about 1/16" left sticking out, and if i turn it any more than that it gets hard to turn and when i let go it turn back slightly so there is still the 1/16" sticking out. it's liek there is some force keeping it from going all teh way in. the spring from the e-brake is disconnected and at the e brake line I have as much slack as I can get without pulling the assembly off teh caliper. the pins were being a bitch so I figured taking the spring off woudl work... yes the main brake line is off also.

you will need to get your testes together and wrench that **** down....its obviously a bit jammed from sitting....

you may want to pull the boot off and just rebuild the caliper while youre in there....

how important are those metal shims that come on the back side of the pads? i coudl ditch those and have enough room..

I know a little trick is to use the old pad and pry it against the piston...but in this case it may not work, in that case I use a c-clamp and a flat piece of metal.

Spray some wd-40 or any other spray lubricant and spray it on the boot. That'll keep it from sticking.
