Default Ques Bout Knock Sensor

My Question is what exactly does a knock sensor do b/c i have been experiencing detonation with the spark plugs at high revs and my car is throwin one code which is the knock sensor. i was told to try a full tune up which i did and i still get detonation if someone can plz enlighten me about this knock sensor an whats the best thing i can to eliminate it thanks

Its a sensor that detects ping - then retards timing. If you've been experiencing knock - the knock sensor should retard the timing to eliminate it. If its not retarding the timing - something is wrong with it.

i have an hks intake dc sport headers and hks full exhaust with Walbro fuel pump and msd spark plug wires. i believe its my ecu that might be causing it cuz its a gsr p72 non chipped and i know the fuel maps are different. I think i should have it chip an tuned. the mottor is the jdm h22 SiR-S spec or something like that

Well thats exactly yoru problem. Get a p13 or whatever that motor uses. Regardless, a p13 would work way better than the p72. Your problems will be solved. It must run like **** on the p72 - isn't that an ecu from a gsr? or civic?

p72 is from a gsr, and yes that is more than likely his problem.

well the p72 is OBD1 what if i jus chip and tune that ecu would that be fine cuz i can have the fuel maps change to the H22s cuz if i can im goin to the dyno nex w/end to chip an tune it thanks alot

a chipped p72 would be fine. its the stock p72 ignition and fuel maps that are giving you problems.

thanks alot for the help i'll jus drive the car normal until i can go nex w/end and take the car to the dyno so i can chip the p72 and have the car tuned an runnin right

to be honest it didn't run that bad but i still felt a bit of hesitation on the motor i raced my cuzins 95 5.0 stang w/ i/h/e and a racin tranny from 2nd gear rolled and still pulled him 2 cars
