Monitor installed in dash

i was just playing around with photoshop a little bit and i was wondering if this would be a good place for a monitor? I know it's out in the open but it would be perfect for the passenger especially since i have a ps2 slim installed in the glove compartment. I want to install a monitor behind the smoked screen dash but it limits the size of the monitor and plus it darkens the monitor visibility. Tell me what you guys think; if it's ugly, a dumb idea, or whatever. Thanks
first and foremost.. i thought it was a real picture
anyways i think it's a good idea.. if you care so much about your passenger to spend all that money on them
.. otherwise it's kinda out of sight for you

I fit a 7.2 inch wide screen behind the dash, you just have to dremel out a little nitch for it to sit in. I would do that because you can change that. If you put a monitor in your dash you are cutting honda OEM equipment that is in plain view and will cost a lot of money to fix/replace if you end up getting tired of it. If you put it behind the dash it's conceled, and also it's really easy to take out and change if you need to .

when shifting the digital fuel/temp gauges to the right, is there enough slack on the wiring harness to make room for the monitor? I'll probably end up installing the monitor behind the smoke screen because of what you said about cutting OEM equipment.

putting it behind the smoke screen is better also for security purposes (the fact that no one can see it when it's off). Also just incase you put something in the front seat, if you brake real hard it might fly into the monitor and break it.

you need a power inverter to power up the ps2. I hardwired my power inverter straight to the battery with an on/off switch and fuse installed in the line. I ran the 2 audio RCA wires (red and white) from the PS2 to the headunit's "audio line input" terminals. I ran the video RCA wire (yellow) from the PS2 to the monitor's "video input" terminal.
is that it seems easy i have a friend who kind of knows wat he is doing installed his own subs and amp
edit what u mean by this

i had an 16 gauge amplifier wire left over (after i upgraded my amp wire to a 4 gauge). Power inverters are powered through a cigarette lighter socket. I wanted to hard wire my power inverter so I cut the cigarette lighter socket off exposing the two wires (one red and one black; i think). The red is +12 volt power and the black wire is the ground. Just to double check, i took out my multimeter to see if the red wire was the power and it was). I grounded the black wire to the car chassis (attached it to a bolt exposing bare metal) and i attached the red wire (from the power inverter) to my 16 gauge amplifier wire. (Note: make sure the wire you're using to power up the power inverter has an inline fuse attached, but make sure the fuse it out while you are installing!!! believe me, i've learned from experience). Anyways, I relocated my power inverter in the trunk because it was pretty noisy since it has a cooling fan. My power wire ran through my center console to the trunk so i just cut the wire to where i would install a switch and that's basically it.
Wiring up the screen is similar to wiring up the power inverter. You can tap the power wire into your stereo headunit power wire. Most monitors already has an inline fuse installed in their wiring. If it doesn't, you really don't have to worry about installing one since the your stereo headunit wire already has a fuse; but it's always nice to have another fuse installed for backup. Then ground the black wire to the car chassis and you should be set.

idk its looks cool but IMHO i think it might be a little to easy for thieves to steal or someone to be sitting in passegner seat and break it. Don't get me wrong it would be cool to see for sure.

yeah i like the one built into the dash. but i dont think its too practical for a regular car.. show car maybe but otherwise no. like everyone else was saying, put it between the gauges for security reasons.
i also have a tv installed behond the smoked plastic.. most worthless thing ive ever done.. dont waste your time,.. i ahve used it maybe 5 times since i installed it.. and the smoked plastic makes very little difference when it comes to light.. and the tv is more than big enough..

second thought, i used my in-dash monitor also like 4-5 times from the time i installed it to the time i took it out (about 2 years). i guess it would only be usefull if you go on alot of road trips or if you want to impress alot of people. hmm....i probably just won't bother with it since i'm already in debt from all this holidday shopping.
