Default Help no reverse gear...

I was going for a cruise earlier and i decided to push my h22. I went from 1st to 2nd fine but i missed 3rd gear. Now my reverse wont go into gear. I dont know if it is because of the missed gear or not. Ususally, my reverse would go in smoothly and easily now its like its jammed or something. All the forward gears seems to feel normal and everything. Someone please help...thanks a ton

check the normal things like shift linkage and fluid level. how did you "miss" 3rd? did you go into a different gear, or grind but not go into gear?

you may have bent your shift fork slightly when you did that, play around with pushing towards reverse and modulate the clutch and it should come back after a bit of trying

you should have searched, this has been covered already....idi0t

I did this before as well. Basically start the car and you have to jam it into gear. It will take you a while and you'll have to play with getting it into place, but if you are lucky it will go into gear.

If you can't get it into gear, you probably bent your reverse fork.

hmm, sounds like a bent linkage. dont hold me too it tho. my buddy had an rx 7 that got stuck in gear, and it was a bent linkage. give that a try.

an h/f trans issue i've seen several times is the 5th/reverse slider on the main shaft gets burs on the reverse null syncro side that absolutely denies reverse. had one in a '01 with less than 50k miles. trans was mint other than that issue. not too expensive of a part, but rather a bitch to get to. good luck on this not being your issue hopefully.

so if worst comes to worst i would need either a reverse synchro or a reverse fork?

alright, well i found sorta a temporary fix for this. I tried to put the car in reverse when the car was running. I revved the engine up a little and found that it would go into reverse but it would grind, so i can just put the car in reverse when the motor is off. Then i can just rev a bit while pushing up to get it out of reverse.

if it drops in reverse easily with the engine off then the slider is okay.
