Default IF THIS WAS YOUR CAR...

Would you put a Zex nitrous system (55 shot) on your GSR. 80,000 miles 255 lph fuel pump, ZEX plugs, intake, exhaust.
Would you do it if it was yours??????

Alot of folks will agree that a Honda motor with 100K miles on it is just broken in. But if anybody wants to boost one that isn't relatively new you suggest it's a bad idea without anything backing it up.

It's ok to boost an old motor. Find out what shape it's in. Does it burn oil? What kind of gas mileage are you getting? How's the compression, how about a leak-down test? Has it been properly maintained it's entire life?

There are lots of CRX-ers that boost their D16's and ZC's, and those aren't new motors. There's a difference between old, and tired and old.

Always do a compression and leakdown test before doing anything major.

How do you do a leakdown test and how much does it cost to get something to do a compression test? Thanks!

I don't think I'll ever use nitrous.

My LS motor has almost 80,000 miles on it. Ive been racing it since 40,000 and Ive been running a 70 shot on it for the last 5-8 thousand miles. Im about to ditch my dry kit for a direct port and up it to 100 shot(all internals are stock). I am confident that my motor (which still runs perfect) will still last a very long time.
Take it to a dealership or shop and have them do a leak down and compression test. If everything is in good shape, go for it. A 55 shot is nothing, your gsr motor will take it w/ out breaking a sweat. Just make sure your kit is installed properly, running correctly, and use it responsibly and you will be very happy w/ it.
Dont listen to the uninformed people who assume that you car will blow up as soon as you use nitrous. Do some research and learn for yourself.
Good luck.
