Default HELP!! no spark??????

i have a d16 in my 92 civic ex,alright i put a new timing belt on today and it started up fine without my alternator on for a few starts....and then i replaced the cap, rotor plugs and wires and it started up right away then died and now it wont start again....do i have to have the alternator hooked up for it to spark? the engine still cranks over on the battery...getting fuel...the only ground (on the valve cover) i know of is on...any help...ps my alternator is bad that is why i dont have it hooked up currently

you must have ALL the grounds hooked up. tranny, valve cover, and i believe there is one more. try that first. a;lso this would be a great time to do bigger ground wires, and maybe a dd a few so if you forget to hook on up u got some extras.
If that dosent work check your timeing, it couldf have jumped a tooth. Or even swap ot the dizzy with another one (like a friends) to determine if that went bad on you.. And it wont hurt to check relays, and fuses..

uhhh if you dont have your alternator hooked up it wont run...just like when u snap a alt belt when driving your car dies...
-the battery is just there to power the starter...after that everything powers off your alternator.

I have just had the same problem with my b16, what happened with mine is the distributer went out. I was just doing some work on the car, when I got finished it started right up and then died. I was getting no spark. Changed distributers and everything worked.
