How hard is it to do a valve adjustment. I saw a write up on it but in reality could the normal person do one ? What would doing a valve adjustment solve ??

 

It is very easy to do as long as you have some mechanical skills. I am sure that you do or you would not even be on this forum right now so I would say go for it. Adjusting your valves will eliminate valve train "ticking." Your engine will run quieter than if your valves were out of adjustment. You may also see a gain in overall engine performance.
