rpm raises fast then drops fast sometimes in idle any suggestions on what the problem could be? when i drive around 10-15mph the rpm just rise and fall real quick and i have to pull up on the gas pedel to calm it down it is wierd. should i ajust the linkage on it or what? thanx

 

I believe that the problem could be caused by a small hose, a vacuum hose or something like that near by the throtle.... not so sure though!

 

It would help If i knew what you were driving.

Some things that it could be:
throttle linkage
alternator
fuel pump
fuel injectors (if equipped)
carbuerator (if equipped)

Those are some ideas, I could narrow it down more if I knew what engine you're dealing with.

different cars require different diagnostic methods ..........start by telling us year and model.........but it sounds like a fast idle valve leaking by , idle too high, vacc leak..
