I've done a ton of searching, but I can't seem to find the answer to this problem..

I installed an AEM UEGO wideband and replaced my primary oxygen sensor, tapped the wire from the gauge to the ecu (stock SH ecu, not chipped), etc.. I also put a 10ohm 10watt resistor between the two heater wires (both white) on the stock o2 harness which is what a lot of people seemed to be using to trick the ecu into thinking the o2 heater was still there.

Everytime I start the car after resetting the ecu, I get a code 65 which is a secondary oxygen sensor heater circuit malfunction. I'm stumped.. I even soldered the stock o2 sensor back on (only the heater wires though, not the other two) and got the same code. Is there something I'm missing and is there a way to trick the ecu (besides uberdata, hondata, etc..)?

This is on a 97' Prelude SH.

why not get an 02 fouler, and just use the wideband.

I'm not sure what an o2 fouler is.? I am using the wideband as my primary o2 sensor though (sending the narrowband signal to the ecu). My ecu just wants to see the o2 heater there, which the wideband doesn't have.

 

well since the code is for the secondary sensor, i dont think the primary one is where the problem is....

make sure all the wiring is good for the secondary one....im not sure if you did the wiring right....

it may be easier to just get another o2 bung welded on and keep the wideband seperate....its not like the ecu needs that signal....

I might end up doing that... The gauge came with an extra o2 bung and I have a mig welder, I just didn't feel like unbolting my downpipe because the bolts for the turbo flange are a PITA.

I thought it was kind of weird that I was getting a secondary o2 code too, but I didn't even touch the secondary o2, so I can't imagine how it's having the problem. Oh well, I'll have to check it out tomorrow.

 

an 02 fouler makes the ECU think that theres one hooked up bit in reality theres nothing. they go for like 50$
