Weird grinding noise coming from tranny.. HELP!
I just dropped my motor back into my car after resurfacing the flywheel and putting on a 4 puck clutch, everything was aligned and put on right.
So I started my car, everything was fine but when I tried to put it in gear, it made a loud grinding sound while releasing the clutch. At first I thought it was my axles, so I checked both axles and they were fine.
After thinking about it and asking the homies for help, I either think its my throwout bearing or input shaft bearing.. is there anyone that can help me out to determine whats wrong? thanks
edit: only grinds while releasing clutch, everythings cool while clutch is all the way down or in neutral

no i didnt, never touched it.. was going to go ls vtec but never worked out, so i threw my tranny back on and put my motor back together
when you say grind, is it more like a squek grinding noise ? if so, i have a 4 puck clutch too and when i don't engage right it does the exact same thing. i usually make sure i engage after 3000-3500 RPMS
If you have the money and time try replacing all the bearings (input, main, throw out)....you might be due for em anyways....and if it continues you'll know its the 4 puck and you'll have all new bearings aswell

no i dont think so, im not to sure.. its more like a loud cracking sound.. i barely dropped in my motor yesterday after putting it back together, it worked perfectly before changing the clutch.. im going to check the tranny tomorrow hopefully and ill see if its the throwout bearing

dont have the money or time.. but ill prolly end up getting a 6 puck instead or going back to a stock clutch

i personally like the 4 puck over the 6 puck. just my preference. replace the bearings would be the best bet. also try wearing in the clutch right and it might just go away.
