Default Spoon & J's

Ok guys the dilema is between spoon and J's Racing. We all know they are top names in the world of performance for S2k's. Now if your on a budget would it be worth it to bust your *** to send your WHOLE car over to Spoon in Cali, to get your engine tuned along with tranny and all sorts of other things. Then start moding the S with all J's Racing parts on a well tuned engine, seems smarter to mod an already modified engine then start with bone stock ya know? ..get the most out of 240hp! Or just start moding n tune as you go? Now the likely of an average person with an S2000 to just ask Spoon to mod their car i know is slim to none, but thats why im asking you guys.

1) When did Spoon go to California? Did you mean Opak Racing?

2) Have you seen the specs on the Spoon motor? Not impressive for the money.

3) You keep mentioning a well tuned engine....we already have a very well tuned engine, you want power, go boost.

4) What do you plan on doing with this car that you would like Spoon to build it?

5) Do you know how much $ money it would cost you to have Spoon or even Opak Racing to build your car from the ground up?

The spoon motor with all the spoon parts and tranny bits might give you 244 bhp =-)

Spoon imo is just reworked + repackaged oem parts. The reason why their parts are reliable is because Honda made most of them in the first place. Then a Spoon "technician" polished it here and there and threw it in a white box with baby blue letters with a picture of a crane on it. voila $100 markup on a oem part.

^ they also retorque everything engine wise by hand... lol... thats where the price comes from......

a spoon motor is just that a stock engine, with slight modifications (a thinner head gasket to raise the compression a little) and reasembled by hand to specific torque recomendations by spoon...... and they might use lighter bolts...

yes, but these re-torqued motors have been known to run at redline 24 hours at a time. spoon is into endurance racing.

since it seems like you guys know your ****, im leave it up to you but i want to tune my **** up for boost. I dont wanna SC it any suggestions on what $1200 would be best to spend on first. Im trying to spend all my money on my engine, tires, brakes, performance wise ya know. Kits n rims r nice but power is where its at besides the S alrdy has very light stock rims along with other exterior accessories.

Or building an engine, or I/H/E, or wheels and tires, or brakes, or a suspension beyond a set of Koni's and GCs... etc, etc, etc

$1200 would buy you at least 4 good track days and the tires and brakes nessisary to run them.. I think you'll have a lot more fun with that than whatever mods $1200 could get you.
