Default Is the 2001 Honda Civic EX Good?

I have a 94 Honda Accord EX VTEC, I have yet to drive a 2000 model car. HAHA I know im poor. But My next car looks like it might be between a 2001 Honda Civic EX VTEC or a 2002 Toyota Camry LE. What do you guys think? Im leaning towards the civic. I want something awesom on gas and have some what a fun drive. And I like Vtec? I hear that the motor sucks. But I dont mod so as just a Stock Car how good is the 01 Civic? How is the vtec in it? Loud and mean or what? And is it somewhat ZIppy doesnt have to be super fast but you would think it would have some speed with such a light car and 127 hp. Probably the only mods I would Do is Tint. But I dont want to be driving something boring. I want to have some fun in the Bends. How good is it in the cuves? Any imput would be nice. I want to stick Honda and be loyal but if 2002 Camry is a better buy just tell me.

the 2001-2005 civics in general are slow vehicles. if you want power, you're looking at the wrong car. but i would say the civic would handle better than the camry with simple springs/struts and bars.

i suggest to test drive both cars and write up your own comparsion. IMO, i would go with the camry because ive own an 7thgen civic and would love to swap cars for something else (a 4-banger camry would be one i would trade for). but then, its automatic

Does the 2001 Honda Civic EX VTEC simular to the 99-00 models in terms of being faster? I know they have the same 127-130hp but the weight is different.

no.

the vtec in the 2001-2005 non si is SOHC so you wont notice it if it does kick in.

i've driven an EM2 (01-05 civic) and they arent fast but they arent slow, good at what they do.

make sure you get the manual though.
