hey i jus started my car and i notice the speedometer is goin nuts. from 20-80-60-100. And i notice my miles on the car is goin up too. My gas is goin to. Now i kno my 02 sensor is bad and i dindt change it. But cudd that play an effect on the problem? Cudd it be the speed senor? Someone help me? thanx

 

Speed sensor should only affect the speedo, and not your odometer. However, I would try cleaning your VSS sensor. More than likely it will fix your speedo problem.

 

Here's a picture of where the VSS is located. It's on the back/topside of your transmission. And is secured by one 10mm bolt.

uhh... the speed sensor will affect both the speedo and the odometer, because the odometer runs off of the speedo...

Yeah, youre right. I have a winter beater (87 Civic) that the VSS got fried and the speedometer and odometer dont work. I dont care to fix it since I paid $400 for the car and am selling it to a friend for $200 once my CRX is done. But not changing the O2 sensor will greatly affect youre gas milage. Change it, its easy.
