Tranny Oil Question.
I have a 92 civic, a place said i should use 10-30w motor oil? i got it changed at some shop they said they were gonna put gear oil but they ended up putting 5-30 i think. so was wondering would it be bad to put gear oil in it?
what would u say about a leak.. i guess the prev owner put in nonslip or what ever and i guess when they sealed it, they didnt do a good job so it has a little leak, u think the thicker genuwine gear oil will make it leak less then 5w30 or 10w40
If it has a leak, you need to fix the leak not worry so much about which fluid is going to make the leak better.
The Honda MTF will be best for the performance of the tranny as far as lubricating the gears/synchros, etc.

Honda Manual Transmission Fluid is always good, but there are a couple others that are superior.
"GM Synchromesh" is great. Can be bought at GM dealership parts store. Very expensive. Around 30 bucks a bottle.
It WILL cure light to medium grinds. Search the forums for "GM Synchromesh"
