Safety Stats for a 91 CRX
I'm looking for a favorable website showing crash rates for the CRX. My brother is trying to buy one and we need to know the safety rates before we take action. Email me at XxParkerDanielxX@yahoo.com or just respond back with the link to the site. Thanks for your help. Peace.
a tiny car with no airbags isnt goin to be the safest car...the crx/civic was amde for economy. the new ones got side impact beams and airbags and are actually pretty safe but i dont think the 4th gen.s are the safest cars out there. ive taken apart my car and put it back together again..and i dont see anything beefy about it. the again thats why they can be made lil quick bitches. cuz they're so light.

Not exactly the safest car out there. A car that weight less than 2000 against an Expedition is not a good match. If safety you want get an SUV not a Honda.

A "friend" of mine actually wrecked his crx a couple months ago, going at a "high rate of speed" as the police report put it. He slammed into an Accord that decided not to yield the right of way.
The rate of speed was high enough to cause the rear fenders to buckle. I'm going to say he was going....oh, maybe 40-50 by the time he hit him. The Accord was turning and so his speed was close to 0. Nevertheless, my "friend" was all right, and we were even able to salvage the motor.

I went to a driver improvement course (Damn speeding tickets) Anyways, they had a book and a listing of crash ratings for various cars. I cant remember which model or year, but it was a 2nd gen crx and it recieved a 3 stars rating for the driver and 4stars for the passenger for head on crash rating. Which means in a head on collision of 40mph, 4 stars = 11% to 20% chance of serious injury, 3 stars = 21% to 35% chance of serious injury. They DO NOT RATE THEM FOR SIDE IMPACT. At least they did not when these were tested back in the early 90's when our beloved vehicles were made.
The test results were for the 89 Hf model I believe. The only ones I can find online are for the 91 civics.

Most of the online resources dont list the older cars, but you can find them in hard print. If you call to one of the many driver improvement places they should have them in print.
The only one that had the crx did not have test ratings for the us model: http://www.crashtest.com/honda/ie.htm

The thing with cars is that if they hit a tree or a wall or something immovable, I don't think it matters how much they weigh. It's only when they hit another car that weight would make a difference. Of course, that happens quite a bit.....
Heres some crash test safety ratings that I have conducted myself.

two straight lane highway, cliffs along the sides.
lost control, smacked the cliff and went airborne.
car came down headfirst 180 degrees facing the other side of the highway which was another cliff.
smacked up the front end, car went spinning in circles.
rolled over, landed right side up.
then it played bumper cars between the two cliffs on the two lane highway.
and all three people survived by the mercy of god.

your still getting fingered for 3 bucks? damn... but yeah.
passsenger no seatbelt, driver no seatbelt, guy in the backseat had the least of injuries.
my friend who was driving shattered his leg, punctured his lung, broke his jaw and knocked out most of his front teeth, broke an arm.
passenger was in a body cast and ate everything through a tube for a few months... enough said.
guy in the backseat just broke two collar bones from hittin the two front seats.
