Default CRX Toast!

Well today was one of those days were you wake up and things are looking up, the sun is shining and the air is crisp, even the 2 feet of snow outside dont seem that bad. Untill your SOHC ZC starts knocking like something wicked and then breaks. Today my engine had a slight knock, it wasnt too bad untill about 3 o'clock today when it got severe, as it was idleing in a local garage parking lot the knock got so bad that the motor bogged and then......snap, bang bang, whatever was knocking broke and you hear it go zipping through the motor, but the odd twist is that the motor, after it broke returned to perfect idle. I thought holy ****, thats odd. As I was driving it home though, it hit home that this was bad. When I tired to accelerate the engine bogged and didnt want to go any further than that. Im gonna take it apart tomorrow and see what the expletive is wrong.

And its getting parted, towed and crushed.

dont run a motor with no oil pressure retard; bearings spin when that happens... and once its spun its gone...

These things happen, my old D15 was knocking, and I didn't run it for a while. Then I started it for someone so they could hear it. The result was about a minute of idleing, and then rod #1 through the front and back of the block. Took it apart, and it looked as if the wrist pin had seized up or something.

If you end up crushing it, I hope the rest of the cars you ever own expletive up on you. Even if it's beat to hell, someone could use it for a track project. I'd rather see a beat up crx go under the knife than one that is in prime condition. Keep that in mind.

Sell it to someone. You would be a fool to crush it. And there are several people on this board that would probably chip in for an assassin if you did that.

And if you were in Ohio, NC, SC or AZ I would snap it up and add it to the collection. Don't crush it, you'll get at least $100 out of a shell more than you will get for crushing it.

No, I had no choice its the only car I have. The knocking started that day.

It had oil preasure and plenty of oil. Yes I know these things, it was unexpected and untimely.

I wasnt driving it hard or banging it off the limiter, I bought the motor from Hmotors and I checked it out before it went in. It ran great untill yesterday morning and everything went down hill from there. Dont know, maybe the motor was in bad shape internaly when I got it, or maybe all the cold starts this winter had an effect. Its a shame, I love this car.
