OT: New (sorta) Daily Driver :P~
**MR. Mods, by all means this can be moved to GDD if you feel it should be so**
A long story short, The R will probably not be here in Hawaii until Christmas or sometime afterwards. So, in the mean time I thought I'd rock this around since I live up one of the biggest hills on Oahu. Not only this, but even if the R was here, I probably wouldn't drive it.
My commute to work is a relaxing 5 miles along the '7 mile miracle' aka: North Shore of Oahu. I ride from Sharks Cove to Haleiwa and no more than that. By simply peddling it takes me about 25 minutes. After this new install, I can do it in ten. On busy weekend days when everyone and their brother is up here surfing, I can commute around North Shore faster and more efficiently than people in cars.
Stats:::
Bike: Electra Beach Cruiser
Stretch Kit: Extra Cycle
Saddle Bags: Surf Rider Foundation
Engine: Howell 80cc 2-stroke
Gas Tank: 1/2 Gallon at 150 MPG
Top Speed: 40MPH
Surf Rack: Carver Surf Racks
I bought the kit on ebay for $150.00. I figured I'd give it a shot and see what it's about. There's this super chubby junior high kid riding around so I thought I could do it.
The kit arrived much longer than expected, but was stoked to finally get it. In the pictures below, the one of the engine in particular you will find pink lines and pink arrows. The pink lines indicate how much I honed out of the exhaust pipe and carb runner. The arrows indicate areas where I ported.
I knew the construction was going to be shitty, considering these are cheap engines made in Tiawan. So I didn't rush the install. Everything was dissasembled and put back together with copper gasket where needed and plenty of mild grade loctite. The exhaust pipe had some pretty bad casting ridges in it so I honed it out as much as I could. The same went for the carb and the runner.
After that was all said and done, I match ported the intake runner to the intake side of the engine and did the same for the exhaust.
This is a clutch type kit meaning that if you still want to peddle the bike you need to hold the clutch in. I didn't like this feature that came on the bike so I put the clutch on an indexing rapid shifter to hold it in place. I also installed an on/off switch for the gas and an inline fuel filter.
Enough talking. Here's the pictures.

Because most of you I consider friends, which means I'd like to share. I don't care about most of the people in GDD.

Do you have a pic of all the parts before the install?
How does it run and get you going from a dead stop?</TD></TR></TABLE>
1) No
2) Yes
3) Peddle, then pop the clutch.

i miss my fraternity days :sigh:
<----was in a house whose members voted to spend $2500 of house money to buy a foam machine when we only had 3500 in our bank account. then when they told us it was going to take 2-4 weeks to ship it, drove from kansas to kentucky and back in 1 day so we could have it for our party that night.
