are auto and manual vss's interchangeable?

 

They fit the same but the mounting points are different. So no.

 

All VSS are identical aside from the gear (in 92-00 Civic's and 94-01 Integra's). I have no clue where you get your information from.

 

So which is it?

I am a certified Honda/Acura technician

I know this becasue I have a few that I use as "known-goods" for testing purposes when someone's speedo does not work.

just be sure that eh VSS gear is the correct diameter, You can likely remove your VSS gear from teh unit and install it onto the donor unit by removing the pin that is below the seal on the shaft. Just pull the pin (I call it the grenade pin) and pul the gear out and swithc the gears.

If your unit has a plastic gear, the gear can only be swapped with another plastic gear....same goes for metal VSS gears.
