Default Odd tachometer problem.

Well in my searching I found that most tach/ignitor and etc. problems were all associated with a bouncy or jumpy tach and bogging. I am experiencing none of this. Here is my problem:
Basically my tach revs up fine with no jumping or erratic movement, however, when in nuetral or idle the needle drops all the way down like its dead. But give a little gas and it goes right back up again. The engine doesn't feel like it is struggling at all. Its just that the needle goes all the way down to below zero with no change in engine vibration at all. I thought this was odd, especially after I looked into common tach problems. Any insights?

Well i have always related screwy tach issues with a connection problem at the ignitor or a faulty/going bad ignitor. I guess i would check the conenctions since its the easiest thing to do and it doesnt cost u any $.

Don't feel bad...my crx winter car does exactly the same thing, not sure what it is.
Btw....i have changed out 3 different dizzy's and am running a complete new assembly on a sohc zc engine, still have the problem. Must be a connection inthe cluster somewhere.

my autometer sport comp tach did the same thing. would hover around 1000, and then just go down to zero, I assumed it was just because the spark signal wasn't strong enough, espicially for such a big tach.

I got a stock si tach instead and the problem went away, then about 2 months later I took my dizzy cap off and noticed that my coil was all melted and ****, I dunno if it was all related or what
