The mugen valve springs are the same as stock ones. Don't get the ECU unless you have other mods.

It was determined that Mugen valvesprings are indeed stock ITR valvesprings.

Are you sure we determined that? I remember translating/quoting from the Mugen literature where they clearly state that they are different/reinforced.

Esteban Gonzalez was the one whose first-hand account revealed that Mugen valvesprings and stock ITR valvesprings are one in the same. Though I'm sure the Mugen valvesprings come in a nice Mugen box. Maybe when they mentioned different/reinforced they were referring to the box?

Really? So I can safely rev to 9200 rpm all day long on a road course (not that I can due to my stock ECU)?

I thought they were stock ITR springs that have been heat treated to handle high stress at longer intervals?

We can verify this buy looking at the grain structure of the metal under a microscope. If anybody wants to donate to me a sample of a Mugen valve spring, I can varify this.

Oh, and I'll need one stock ITR spring as well to compare.

you can make power past 8200 on itr cams. cam gears will do the trick. and if you rev past 8200 and shift to the next gear you will be in a strong power band of the itr cams, so my conclusion is yes raise the rev limiter but not on a stock motor, it will do nothing

Yes, but what was determined at the same time was that Mugen sells these springs specifically for pre-98spec ITRs and CTRs. The valve springs were changed for the '98 models...so for all but 350 of our USDM cars, it won't do a thing. I believe that King's website is misleading, but Mugen has always said that the valve springs were not necessary for '98 and up.
