Walbro install in CRX, issues!
I recently installed a Walbro 255 into a 1990 CRX. The CRX uses a JDM B16A motor along with the JDM ecu. The Main Relay checked out fine. All fuses are fine. The pump is running and building pressure, however.
The car runs extremely rich. So rich, to a point where it cannot even start to run. I have to pinch the fuel feed line to reduce the amount of feel given to the vehicle. When it burns off the fuel in the cylinder, it starts up, however, it barely idles.
Puffs of black smoke come out and it eventually dies. I was told to install an AFPR to resolve but I couldnt imagine that it would fix the problem after seeing countless Walbro install threads on here without them. Please advise and thanks for your help.

my install went ok with no problems afterwards, but I have read about several people getting as much as a 10 psi increase in fuel pressure. Before you go swapping parts out you might wanna try getting a fuel pressure gauge like B&M and install it on the fuel filter.

yeah the new pump gives more pressure, it threw my tune way off. With a stock pump i was running 15 afrs at idle and the fuel pump droped me down to 11.8-12.5 range. I would get a fpr, b&m is junk if you have an aftermarket rail i would do a areomotive.

I went with the 255 walbro and with a BandM FPR worked out fine but with the fuel pump upgrade you should upgrade the FPR to an adjustable one. Ya check for something pinched something isnt right...

The problem here is indeed the FPR. 255LPH is just WAYYYY too much for the stock regulator. There is NO WAY it can maintain stock pressure. Your only choice here is to go with a regulator that can flow more. As for others not having problems, chances are they went with the 190LPH pump (as I did). 190LPH is overkill as it is for even the most extreme allmotor setup. 255LPH is just insane. The bottom line: you have WAY more fuel pump than you need.

Hey man I put one of these 255 bad boys on my CRX about 8 months ago. I have a 1.5L carbed version. My car did start running rich...But never ever did I have those types of problems. Did you forget any of the peices leading to the boot, or possibly forget to put the boot on the bottom of the fuel pump?
You do have a psi gauge installed?
When I installed my 190... I wrote down the psi with factory pump.
After install, I did have to readjust the psi back to the factory pump psi setting.
Car runs fine.

ive seen people run with out a fuel presure regulator. they remove it completely and runa 3/8 return line with biger rissing rate fuel injectors with some jkind of fuel managment and work fine i dun know if this helps
