ls VTEC tuning in IOWA?!?! help!
i will be starting the lsvtec swap soon and hopefully have it finished by spring, soo..
first of all, if you know of a shop in iowa that does dyno tuning, LET ME KNOW!!! i found shops with dynos, but i always get the same result, either its "well, i dont have the equipment for imports and have never done anything like that before" or "well yes we have a dyno, but we rent it out, you can use it, but you or someone you know will have to actually do the tuning"
problem there is that i dont know ANYONE with tuning experience!
what should i do?
if any of you know a shop in iowa, or close to iowa, let me know! there was a shop right here in town that did it but i guess they just very recently closed down... i've checked every corner of iowa and nothing productive yet...
i was wondering... is it possible to maybe get a computer that has already been tuned? or will the fact that its simply a different engine make it not work?
thanks

You got it,
, there should be someone local, or DIY, no worries there, just might take time to find them/learn.

i wouldnt know the first step in running/tuning on a dyno... it would be like... me joining the bomb squad on a swat team with no experience...
I'm installing a turbo kit and a hondata s300 this winter. I'm planning on taking my car to Chicago to the whipfactory. This is really the only place to get a honda tuned right if you're in Iowa, like us. http://www.whipfactory.com/
hmmm, i have no problem with going to chicago... its 6 hours... would my ls vtec be OK to drive that far once its swapped in? or would i risk a chance of damaging the engine? or would i have to trailer it? if i can drive it, i'd rather pay for that gas bill lol.

go to pgmfi.org and read up
you can also go to elite in st paul for your dyno tuning

i didn't find anything about basemap chipping...maybe i wasn't looking in the right section? i just need to know what basemap chipping is, and if the lsvtec will be able to drive that far before its tuned...i'll pay someone at a shop to tune it, chip it, whatever, im not gonna touch on that part.
ahh that totally explained it, thanks a bunch.
so in a nutshell, lets say i get one of those ECUs that are already chipped w/ a basemap, i SHOULD be ok to drive 4-6 hours safely, if i dont beat on it, to get it tuned?
once that question is answered its all over lol
thanks again for the help
