Default 2008 Honda Accord? Anyone got pics or sketches or info?

Current gen is the suck. I've been scouring google for awhile but nothing pops up except small blurbs about "redesign is expected in 2008". New car is suppose to be out in fall of 2007 i believe.

Anyone got ~anything~??!?? I can wait a year and a half for something good.....

If they suck so much why would the 08's be much better?

Doesn't seem like Honda has been all that concerned about the "looks" of there cars up to now. "Form follows function" I don't think there philosophy (which has worked pretty well for them so far) is going to change. Just my opinion, but I think a car that works as well as the 7th gen is beautiful, no matter what it looks like. If you know what I mean.

The rdigeline has grown on me a lot. I would never own one or any truck. I think the new accord coupe is beautiful. I would love to buy a new one or even a used one.

"QUALITY IS BEAUTIFUL" A Porshe looks like ****, if it's on the side of the road with the hood up.

I would say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Current gen technologically and quality-wise is a marvel for the price. A very good buy.

However, sales #'s are sales #'s. The current gen accord sales #'s are lower than what they should be. There is a reason cars sell beyond engineering and driving feel.

With the redesigned 06' Civic, I wonder what direction Honda's interpretation of the USDM accord's style will be.....

I hope it's good.

I think most americans that buy Honda Accords don't really want something flashy (too much style). If Honda went with a radical new design, they might lose more customers than they gain. That's why the American Accord looks a lot less sporty than the European version. Americans are more conservative. That's my take on the subject. If you want an Accord with style, get an AcuraTL. If style is more important than money.

the looks of any generation is dependent on its driver. at first, i didn't like the 06 accords since they looked exactly like the 05 model, which i did not like. but, the look grew on me, and now i love the newly designed tail lights and front bumper. not to mention, the ride quality is smooth like a luxury acura, and the performance of the v6 definitely rivals the competition.

but i think the next generation will keep the LED-style tail lights but incorporate the TSX style HID headlights. honda is heading more towards the european exotic, luxury look instead of the soccer mom sedan look. i have high hopes.

just a thought...

If they make the Accord Stylish, like the Acura, who's going to plop down the extra $4,000 or more, for the Acura? They will always keep the Accord a step down in style from the Acura. That, and soccer moms don't usually want a flashy car. I think about it like this. Is the cool look worth the extra money for the Acura? "Style" was not worth the extra money, at least in my case. Everyone has their own priorities though. Quality and Reliability were #s 1 and 2, on my list. Comfort and Style were tied for 3rd. When price was factored in, #3 was compromised.

you be surprise how much the honda spend on the design team.
just to let you know one thing about design. do you know the door/door jam on your accord is designed to be shut with the air "swopping" sound(like the one you found in heavy, luxury german car), there's a whole team of sound designer make you think your paper thin econo family box's door shut like a benz.

It may be in the rear of the car, but it's still the hood, if you ask me. And they will aways make the Acura have a more stylish appearance, justifying the extra cost, along, of course, with other enhancements over the Accord. More horsepower, etc.

the accord's sale are slugging because the car is getting too big...all of honda's lineup is just getting bigger. current civic is roughly the size of a 4th gen accord.

look for honda to continue with the same style grill (now being used on the Odyssey, Civic, and Accord). Headlights will either be thinner (TL, TSX, Civic) or have large, bubely housings (Odyssey, Fit, RL).

other possiblities are an all v6 line up, elmination of the 6speed v6, and possibly even an SH-AWD option on the EX.

the looks of the current gen has definately hurt sales. they will most likely go back to something a little more conservative and hopefully fix those speky transmission problems in the auto.

Unfortunately, Americans as a people, are getting bigger too.

People here in the USA equate "more" with "better" ala the Vegas buffet and Ford Excursions. So there will always be a war of escalations. When I see another 5th gen on the road, these cars look downright dinky compared to a new Altima/Maxima/etc these days. (though I notice the lines of my M3 don't seem to make it look so small).

It's the fattening of America....translated in cars!
For me, my dilemma is I don't think the TSX is worth another $6-7k. Though it's the perfect size.

Americans like there cars big. I'm 6 foot tall 220lbs. I could use more room myself. If an adult is sitting in the back seat, I have to sacrifice some of my room (comfort) to give the rear passenger enough room to be comfortable. I think the RL is the perfect size, but at $48,000 no way. Yes, I think headlight shrinkage is a probability in the 8th gen. I don't think they will put SH-AWD on the accord, when the TL doesn't even have it (only the RL). Which car do you guys think looks best? The Camry, Altima, Accord, Galant, or the 6 (Mazda). What about the Malibu or the Fusion. I think the Mazda 6 looks good, but too small for me. Mazda can put all the style they can muster into the 6, because they have no luxury division to tone down from.

i kinda agree....6'3" 200. The main issue for honda is probably marketing both the TSX and the Accord in the US. Essentially, they are trying to sell 2 cars in an already overcrowded market.

Another question is what will honda do on a global scale with teh accord. Currently, the 2 accords ("TSX" and "Aspire") both offer alot. Putting a V6 into the "aspire" accord and mating it with a 6 speed manual tranny will take sales away from the TSX, who are looking for a more sporty car. On the same level, having a 200hp 4cyl motor in the TSX takes away from sales of the 4cyl accord, mainly the potential buyer who wants a fun little 4cyl....and since when is the TSX 6K more than the accord? -maybe the base accord vs TSX w/ 6speed and navi, but stock for stock the price is comparable.

SH-AWD IS a possiblity. the only reason its not in the TL, or any other honda cars, is that its so new -the TL was already being sold before the RL was introduced. SH-AWD is similar to Vtec...eventually i see it finding its place in probably every one of hondas (or at least Acura's) lineup -most likely as standard on an EX, or as yet unintorduced trim level.

Camry is an ugly joke. Altima looks enticing, but also looks like it drives like a boat. Galant is a piece of ****, as is the 6. i think the fusion will be a big competitor -very nice looking car, offered in everything from a 5 speed 4 cyl (something the taurus never offerend..and who cares about the countour) to a An auto v6

When I was shopping for a car, quality and reliability pretty much narrowed my decision to either the Camry or the Accord. And the Camry is way too ugly. I love the Acura TL (basically same car as Accord, but with looks) but price ruled that one out. That's the car I said was $4,000, or more, over the highest Accord price. So I got the best Accord they had (except for the navigation). I can read a map, and road signs for that.

The TL is basically the same platform. with slightly larger engine and lots of other added amenities. Isn't it. Look up Acura TL on msn autos, that's the one I like.
