Brakes
Hi, I have a 95 Honda Accord LX, and when I brake the streering wheel shakes the driver side, well I am a little confused, I don't know anything about cars, but my brother once change the axles right and left and also the drive shaft, but lately the problem is getting worst, I did take the car for a check and was told that I needed to change both rotors and needed new brake pads, if is only that I am more than happy but I don't want to spend $600.00 if is going to continue with the same problem I would appreciate the advice, also the speed sensor doesn't work, would it be wise to fix my car it is a 95 but other than that it's running good.
Thank you
Angela
Thank you

the problem is uneven pad wear, or what some will tell you is "warped rotors"...thus, when you brake it will make the car shake...replace the pads and rotors, and it should fix your problem...but whoever quoted you $600, tell them to go to hell...a brake replacement service should cost no more than $200...
She said she doesnt know anything about cars... Do you think she will magically pick up the skills to do a Hub over Rotor brake change?
Find another mechanic, you may need new rotors/pads as pointed out. Shop around for prices.

It would be wise to fix it. Here's the plan on the brake complaint. On your year car, it would be beyond anyones capabilities to replace the rotors, if you don't have the proper tools. It requires partial disassembly of the front suspension to do so.
The most critical point of your successful repair is either the Remachining or Replacement of the front rotors. That in itself will address the vibration while stopping. The brake pads can be replaced if they're unevenly worn, or worn too thin.
Good mechanical practice (however) would dictate replacing the pads at the same time as the rotors. This I leave to inspection of the pads. If they have plenty of wear left, and show no indications of scoring (ridges), they can be sanded smooth and reused.

She also said her BRO did the work once...
That is a rip off..
changing rotor and brake 1 hr job or 2 at the most.
1hr X 120 max...
supply = 60
Total 180.
and 2 hr for 300
you should send a note to the BBB about that shop.
There are shop out there that does the whole brake system.
Turn Rotor change brake for $ 99 with lifetime warranty.
Try Midas.
If not you could drive it to Fresno and I'll have my bro change it out for you for free...
they has to be some people in your area would do it for a 24 pack.
Just hate shop that over charge peoples.

even if a dealership replaces pads and rotors $ 600 is a bit too much..........try to find a shop that specializes on Hondas or any other shops for that matter that hopefully have a SNAP-ON on car Lathe which will machine the rotors without removing them from the car , save a lot of money ,assuming rotors are tick enough to be machined.....cost is around $ 100 new pads, Honda pads $ 55 ..and they should not charge you to replace pads because they have to remove them to machine rotors .......
Personally i would not use Midas or Brake max etc etc they use shitty pads , spend the few extra dollars and stick with factory pads ,,,
