Default Got my car back - shifter vibration

Finally got the car back today..

Picked it up this morning.

On the drive home, I noticed something...I am not sure if it is me being picky or if there is something really wrong with the car..
Can any teg drivers tell me if they feel the same thing in thier cars...while reving down, you can feel buzzing vibration when holding the shifter. It is pretty annoying.. You don't see the shifter shake at all, but you can feel the buzziness vibration transmitted plenty.. pretty much the same as though your hand is on the engine. I can feel all the rough parts of the rpm range throught he shifter but at idle there is nothing there...

Can anyone look for this on their next drive so I can take it back and get the insurance to fixt it while I have a chance..

Could it be that the engine/tranny moved from on impact?
Before the fix, at idle, the steering wheel and stick would shake a lot and you could hear interior modlings crack shake as if they were loose.

I haven't driven it for 3 weeks, so I might have forgotten how it used to be!!

Here is the car before:

Here is the car after:

They did do a good job on the exterior stuff.

Before:

After:

I don't know exactly, but when the shifter is in gear, you're supposed to feel the vibrations coming from the engine. When in neutral, the shifter is not in gear, so no vibrations would be transfered from the engine to the shifter...

EDIT: Oh wait, my friend's car is doing something simiar to your car. When he's in gear and decelerating, he'll get this weird vibration from the shifter as well as some weird sound from the transmission. He just briefly asked some mechanic what could possibly be wrong, and the mechanic said that whatever it was (sorry don't really remember what he said), it'll cost him a few hundred bucks to fix it.

I think you have been without your car for too long

I have always noticed the vibration in the shifter. Actually any manual with direct linkage to the tranny should have some vibration.

Every shifter w/ a solid linkage will vibrate, especially if you have polyurethane shift bushings. It should not be audible, but rather you should be able to feel it. The engine/tranny moves and vibrates, and there is a solib bar connecting the tranny to the shifter. Therefore the shifter will vibrate, as well. My old car had a cable shift linkage, which will not transmit vibration, so therefore you couldn't feel anything inside the car.

This hapened to me to. I couldn't figure it out at first but it ended up being my O2 sensor on my cat rubbing my shift stabilizer. Check that out maybe its the same.

One more thing I realized last night.
I reved to 4K with the shifter in neutral. Felt the same vibration as when in gear!
I really started to notice it yesterday...It is bothering me, I'm 100% sure that it wasn't this bad before cause there will always be a little bit of it i the teg.
Any ideas?

HAM!!

Sorry....been outta the scene for a while. As you know I sold the yellow beast

Now it's all Forced induction - FORCED!

Anyways, sorry to hear about that....were you neckin/rubbin/forcin while driving or handing someone the smackdown!?

That vibration - I had it in my older integra....remember.....the silver camel booster?! Anyways, it was my engine mounts.....I had Suren put some Polyurethane ones in.....the originals were worn out.......too much rockin'!

TTYS?

Hey JonnyR..
too bad you sold the R...
A guy with a white ITR was asking if you were in for some runs!

I know for sure my mounts are worn out given all the whorign the poor car has been through to date. almost 120K kms. Engine is still strong as hell.
The vibration is getting worse.. shakes panels inside the car.. it is so strong that I can feel it under my foot!. Goes through the pedal and my shoe!
Pissess me off. All this cracking and shaking sounds that make the car feel cheap and abused!
I spoke to my mechanic, he thinks its the rear mount. He says the inside bushing rod got bent on impact and because its out just of place it is poorly seated inthe bushing and transmits a lot of vibration!
Also, Honda went changed the engine mount bushings for 96+ integras. they went with oil filled bushings to handle the excessive vibration transmitted in the 94 and 95 tegs!
Not sure what to do. Maybe I should just go with polyurethane and at least get something in return for the vibrations or change them to th 96+ mounts!
any suggestions?

Polyurethane! It's nice and slippery and never wears out! The Perfect ***** mount!

As for Mr White Type-R......ask him if he's ready for BOOST!! It's only at 8PSI now....wait till I get it up to 15!

BTW, how was the reunion?!

I told them that it might be a bent frame and they told me that the machine they use to masure the difference points is acurate to within one thousandth of a centimeter!
They have pulled everything back to its exact position and yet the vibration is crazy after the accident.
They think it is normal! It has been a month now and it is getting worse!
the has a very weak tendancy to go drift as well! Can't be the alignment cause they are saying the alignment is fine!
I am getting really worried about it being bent!
They said that because I have tall winters on that it is much harder to get the alignment perfect but I just don't know what the hell is wrong with it. I now also feel the brake pulsating in the last 40 feet before coming to a stop!
Really getting mseed up everytime I drive it now.. reall pissed.. can't enjoy the drives anymore!

First thing that came to my mind: shifter bushings

Maybe one of them is loose? Missing? Missing a bolt?

I sometimes feel buzziness throughout my shifter (while slowing down at high speeds kinda like you described), but I have polyurethane bushings and a shortshifter. You describe your vibrations as being a lot worse though.

A friend of mine had one bolt missing from that one shifter bushing (forgot what it's called) and it made the shifter buzz and rattle rather violently.

So ..ridge racer 2, you'd NOT recommend plyurethane over stock ones? Keep in mind, this car is not a true track car, and is a perfect case application for polyurethane. Besides have you looked at the current pricing of polyurethane mounts versus stock?
