Default pct pistons on your ITR

im using a sk2 st2 cams and upgraded valvetrain. i want to bump the compression to maximize the potential of my cams. i bought a pct pistons. i know the compression will be on the high side. i just want to know if anyone here running pct pistons on their ITR? will i be able to use it on the streets? does it ping a lot?
i plan to use chrome to tune it. thanks!

I had CTR pistons on my old b18c5 and I was tuned on hondata..... It pinged like a mother fawker at partial throttle. At wide throttle it was bit better. Going up hill was hell... so much pinging. 91 octane though.

with PCT's your c.r. will be in the 13.0/1 area. i think that you need more than higher compression to benefit substantially. i'd reccommend headwork for your car. lastly, PCT's are the heaviest b series 81mm pistons. if it were me, i would mill the head to achieve the desired compression ratio. i think 11.3-11.8 c.r is good for those cams. i laugh when people reccommend pct's. i mean.. heavier piston, big dome, bad flame travel. i don't know. maybe its just me. anyway, g/l with the project.

thanks! i think i'll just get the a flatfaced valves, thinner head gasket and mill the head a little to get me a little more compression. if i slap a pct piston my compression would be around 12.5-12.6 i think thats too high for me.
im going to have a head works done too. thank you for lending me sometime to help.

It's not the static compression you should be worried about, more so the dynamic compression and physical clearance issue. I've ran PCT slugs in my B18C5, but since my cams had so much duration there wasn't any issue with pinging or knocking.

i just read something about that im still studying it. i think the cam profile will play a big role in the dynamic compression. im still not ready to give up on my pct pistons. thank you very much!

i think people actually run their engines on stock computers, even with crazy setups. all these people talkin about pinging kill me. just take some damn timing out of the maps, people! gees...

and just so you guys know, a high dome is a retarded way to get high compression. a rounded triangle-shaped combustion chamber /_\ is the best design for combustion and for power. imagine an explosion pushing down on a slightly dished piston. pretty good idea, huh? the piston serves as a pocket to concentrate the explosion and direct the piston straight downward.

now imagine an explosion trying to push on the sides of a huge dome. doesn't seem too efficient, does it? well, it isn't. shave the head, or swap to a gs-r (P72) head, which has a smaller combustion chamber, and much bigger ports than a PR3 unit.

i thought the non r pr3 and the p72 flowed the same? where did you get this info?
