Default review this b-series setup

Alright
For the last couple months, i have been looking into doing a b20b swap, but because of so many people around me doing it, and none of them having the performance i expected, i decided to go with b16.
Right now i am looking at the LSD b16a obd0 kit from passwordjdm.com
I have a 1989 civic hatch SI that it will be dropped in to.
right now in my garage i already have quite a few b-series parts including:

ITR Header
ITR Pistons
Skunk 2 manifold
greddy complete exhaust
skunk 2 cams
edelbrock adjustable cam gear
edelbrock victor-x intake
Bride 2 seats
those are all the parts i have in my garage right now.

Just wondering if going with a b16a would be smart. I am in highschool, young, but i do know what I am doing, so please do not bring my age into this. I am currently working 3 jobs so i can afford all of my stuff for my car.

my goal is by time i am 19 (3 years) to be running a mid 12 or so OR 240ish WHP (whichever comes first)

I would keep only the itr header and greddy exhaust. Sell the other stuff. itr intake mani, intake cam and valve springs. Then some decent management with a tune. that would be a nice place to start. being thats its your first build, try and keep things simple

get a clue. theer is no way your gonna get 240whp out of a stock bore/stroke B16.
Sheepey's built 2.0l B16 is pushing out 220ish and thats probably close to record

Not even with the bride seats? lol

But sheepeys motor is not stock bore or stroke either. I assumed he wasnt refering to his b16 making 240, just making it somehow in 3 years?

</TD></TR></TABLE>Shouldnt be too hard to get you into the mid 12's in an ef. As long as your a good driver. But what is your budget? depending on much you have to spend and how patient you are i would peice together an Ls-vtec set-up. Very cost effective and yeilds great whp if built correctly. With the new cast pistons that have been released...a b2ovtec sounds like a smart choice aswell.

Im aware its not 1600cc thats why I put 2.0l
I helped assemble Ill Will's B16 and it is onne of the highest HP stock bore/stroke B16's that I know of, really close to Omniman LL W!LL's B16 Dyno Results! Stock bore/stroke! OEM Honda! 200+whp
But yes there is no way he's going to get 240ish out of that setup. Maybe 170-180 max.

Are you talking about my setup here? or the original poster? But yea if you are referring to a stock bore and stroke b16, yeah its gonna take alot more...btw that intake Mani is tooo big for a 1.6 NA motor...its too big for mine, its not going to work on yours. Good luck with your build.

*EDIT* yea sorry i didnt read the entire thing well, you are refering to the original poster...sorry bro

No big deal, I was nitpicking the part where you said record. Maybe for a block that says b16, but not an 85x89 motor. Ill wills motor is strong, props

no biggie, I just told him the highest HP NA B16 that I know of is yours even though i know its really a 2.0l

As far as stock bore/storke B16 200ish is about maximum with real good parts. I dont think the parts he has listed will acomplish that IMHO

You still have alot to learn man. BTW: Itr pistons in a b16 will lower the compression, you might want to go CTR if you want to stick OEM. You have 2 intake manifolds on your list. Just keep reading **** on honda-tech, most of them are true. Also it will be better if you just convert it to obd1.

didnt say i was going to be using all of those parts. those are parts i have in my garage that i was going to use on my b18b but everywhere i have checked, cheapest place around ehre that will rebuild it is 2700 for pulling motor and tranny, rebuild, and dropping it back in.

I found a b20z in a junkyard however that i may pick up.

Budget is about 7 grand (have about 11, but putting some into a CD)
I DO NOT WANT K20 OR H22 DO NOT RECCOMMEND IT

aim for the sky.....i was running 12's when i was like 16 or 17....
i was knocking on 11's when i was like 19
crash the 11 sec club party when i was 20

all you need is 185 wheel hp to run 12's (if you are a good driver that is)

if you wanna get a nice built up b16a, I have a good setup, its an 86mm bore B16a block with stock b16a stroke ... comes out to around 1.8 liters ... I can;t imagine this setup making under 220whp on a dynojet ... so if interested, I'd love to get rid of it even though I'd prfer to keep it but expenses. PM me if anything.

Holy 2700, does that include parts? I dropped my car off for a rebuild but I provided most of the parts, I hope its not near 2700! I should have asked them how much it would cost before I left, haha.
