Default Rear Swaybar Mounting?

I have question. I want to install a rear swaybar on my EG and I would say that 75% of the swaybars out there mount to lower control arms. So, you either get integras lcas or aftermarket ones. Now, the other 25% of the swaybar companies mount to the lower shock mounting bolt. ...and here's my question. What are the pros and cons of mounting a rear swaybar to the lower shock bolt versus to the rear lcas?

Mounting to the lower shock bolt will give more 'leverage' on the swaybar making it more effective vs. the LCA mounting for a given size.

I think your best option is to get some Civic ex/si (or integra rs/ls/gsr) rear LCA's with the swaybar mounting holes, and buy a kit from this guy: http://a-spec-racing.com/

Its a great kit, the quality/service is great. I pieced together my bar with some of the ASR pieces and in retrospect I should have saved hassle and bought the whole kit from him.

RJ,
The reason I was asking was because I already have a custom solid 25mm rear swaybar that mounts to the shock bolts but I was curious because that is not the typical set ups that I've seen.

So, if its effective and safe (not a weak point), I thinking of simply buying the ASR support brace in conjuction with my current bar.

Thanks for the info!

Definately do this, or get the comptech brace.

Mounting the bar further out on the LCA increases the LCAs mechanical advantage over the bar which should reduce the bars overall stiffness. But upon further reasoning, it occours to me that the LCA will now have to bend the swaybar more for every unit of wheel movement thus increasing it's stiffness. This makes me think it's going to cancel out the change. Overall, I'm thinking it wouldn't matter where you mount the bar on LCA, it probably won't make much of a difference either way.

If you do mount the bar further out on the LCA, this will make the sway-bar physically longer though. The added length will reduce it's stiffness, but I'm still betting a lengthened 25mm bar is still substantially stiffer than an OEM style 23mm (largest OEM size).
