steering feels loose on highway
Just like the topic says. ever since I did a gsr swap it feels looser. I even pulled the power steering and looped and put a breather on it. It feels better but, it still feels like a truck on the highway. I'm still running on the stock steelies maybe need wider tires or do you guys think it might be my rack? Thanks in advance!!

Check and make sure the front end is tight before u go replacing parts. But problem sounds like could be loose front end.

Well I actually adjusted the rack's guide screw and it tightened up the steering alot. It's extremely tight under there I used a pair of channel locks to get the 40mm lock nut off. It wasn't that tight. If anyone tries this don't take off the lock nut all the way hard to put back on.

alignment...too much toe out causes light steering and the car will pull a little with the slightest change in road surface like hitting dadadadus on the freeway

I'd actually put it on a chassis rack to see if the body is straight. A bent frame, even slightly off, can really mess with the car's operation.
The other thing to look into is the tie-rods and the ball joints. I just replaced the steering rack on my sedan, then found out that the upper ball joints were going. The tie rods were bad and causing weird problems, and a new rack only cut the wierd feeling in half. A bad tie-rod can cause it to switch between massive toe-in to massive toe-out; a bad ball joint can create toe, camber, and caster problems. Both are easy to check - jack it up, have someone hold the steering wheel (or let it lock itself), and jiggle the wheel. Watch all 3 points for play.

Re: steering feels loose on highway (HiProfile)
A friend of mine recently asked how my car was, and after i explained about the loose steering he suggested that it might be the cotter pin backing out from the steering box. Basically where the column inputs into the rack and pinion. He said that he's had a few friends with the same problem. Is he full of it or does this happen? If it does, how easy is it to fix? The last thing i want to happen is losing steering at 70mph!
