Default Do you think this valve is bent?

A little background, cam gears slipped, when I did a compression test, it was 270 - 170 - 270 - 270

can a busted retainer like that be the reason for the significantly lower compression in that cylinder? The valve looks fine to me, but I'm no expert so I come to you guys

Do you think this valve is bent?

Incorrect Install height / Valve Being pulled through the retainer / Rocker arm smacking into the retainer

If you do a compression test with a broken retainer, im pretty sure itll give you a lower reading.

you need to pull it out of the head first...

Thread a spark plug into that chamber, then fill the chamber with a liquid. After that, blow some compressed air up under the head and see if any bubbles appear around the valve seat. Bent valves dont usually seat too well.

Looks pretty similar to heads I've pulled that have bent valves due to a timing blet breaking or slipping. I definently wouldn't try to put it back together without taking the valve out and inspecting it.

look at the top of your piston. if the valve made contact there is usually a mark in the carbon/piston. looks like the carbon or valve has been disrupted in the area i circled???

i looked at the piston and theres no marks of carbon disruption like the last time i bent a valve.

I'll go have it inspected by a shop to see what their input is..

thanks for the responses!

why not shine a light into the exhaust port? you can usually see a bent valve if you do that

put the head on it's side and pour some fluid into the port...if it leaks through, then your valve isn't sealing.

you can use rubbing alcohol or paint thinner. backyard trick

best bet is to just dissassemble it and find out. little time now will save you a lot of time in the end if it is bent

i would say you definately tweeked the valve. look at the chamber picture just to the left of the circled valve face, see the partial moon mark. it hit the piston there.

Looks like it bent just enough to be disruptive. I've seen it before. Sucks .
