Sluggish Ls/Vtec need help
Hey ive got my ls vtec integra, gsr head, b18b bottem end, gsr tranny all stock, with arp head studs, aebs intake manifold, intake and chipped p06 by kenji. Shifting at 7500 rpms, took the car to the 1/8th and all i could run was a 10 flat with 2.3 0-60's and trapping 68 69 mph. Plans are to 4-1 header and gut my cat and get a better exhaust system, then get a v-afc and get it tuned. Im wondering why it is so sluggish.
also thinking about getting cams and cam gears, since i dont rev above 7500 i could get more power with cam gears by moving hte powerband down some right? car isnt tuned just chipped ecu from kenji

i'm sure you can take it that high. your problem. is your p06 been converted to a p28 with vtec? kenji usually does pretty good chips and makes good basemaps. there's more to drag racing than the car itself. it's a lot on driver, conditions, the track, etc.
btw stock exhaust is somewhat restrictive.

I'd get a tune, you'll notice a big difference; plus.. i hate the track.. The best i've ran in the 1/4 with my car is a 15.3 and i have a Ls/Vtec with 186whp and 141 trq, on a b16 tranny, with omnipower coilovers.. but i can kill type R's on the street, and hang with GTs...
I'd say tune it and you'll notice big differences; then get a dyno so you know exactly what your at.

nevermind about what parts you are buying or have..
buy Hondata, and pay to have it tuned properly. That is your problem. Do not just chip it. That chip was not made for you car.
Yes you can rev higher. Don't listen to these people. I have been reading up on LS/VTEC for over a month now. I've search Honda-Tech, G2IC, Google, c-speedracing, read many magazines on it.
I will be starting my LS/VTEC build in January when I get back from Christmas holidays.
As long as the bottom end is built right, specs and clearances are spot on, and you are using ARP ROD BOLTS!!! if you are not using ARP Rod Bolts. Do not even take that car past 7000. Stick to the stock redline. You don't want to bust a rod.
but bottom line. HAVE IT TUNED PROPERLY. Buy HONDATA.
I have been reading up, and especially today.. I found some news that is important. Do you know what your A/F ratio is? My guess is no. And if that ratio is too high, say good night to your motor.
Good Luck.

wow did u just jump on honda-tech and read a thread about tuning? Im getting a vafc2 soon to dyno tune because there are no dyno's that will tune with hondata in my area, the chip in most ecus as long as you dont buy crap isnt that bad, chances are its a gsr basemap or not far from one. this doesnt mean my car is going to blow up.
i used to shift my stock ottom end ls/vtec at 8500 all day. 14.7 at 96 mph with a 2.4 60 foot on 185/60/14 tires in a full interior, 92 EX SEDAN! your car sucks

ok buddy. dont cry and post threads when you're motor is ****. and dont ask us why you're engine is running sluggish.
what do u mean there is no dyno's that will tune with hondata? you mean there is no one capable of tuning your car with hondata?
--> well id suggest calling around, maybe an hour or 2 away to see if you can find someone in around you that can tune your car.
but hey its your car, your money, your engine. do what you think is best.
ya you can buy a basemap... but why buy a basemap when you just invested all that money into building a better, stronger, faster motor? don't you want to use every bit of potential your motor is capable of?
whatever though..
you keep running 10's in the 1/8th.
